Due to how relations between the clubs has soured over the summer, I think we can forget about signing any united players.

Relations soured because of their actions, not ours. It's on them to improve things etc.

But I do agree, I can't see us signing any Man U players any time soon.

Spoilsport.....tbh thought you could have 3. Maybe the Big News is that Barry or Lukaku are jioining permanently...thereby making my highly fabricated theory about KDB possible......

Conspiarceeeee

He's going to Werder Bremen, most likely. It'll be a permanent transfer either way

Been pondering this, and I think a lot of it is simply because the game has now evolved to the point where most teams play just 1 striker, so the number of natural strikers playing week in week out is almost halved.

And the teams who finish higher up the table generally have the best forwards.

Getting off the subject a little, but I find it a little increduclous that there are posters who will defending Naismith and slate Welbeck, who is anything but gash.

Welbeck is is an excellent player. He's one of the best natural finishers in the league, for me. A lot of goals he gets are typical "get on the end of something" that requires speed of thought above anything else.

And his strike rate doesn't really tell the whole story, because most of those appearances would have been as sub.

One of the Best natural finishers? Wtf?

Up until this season his chance conversion rate was 7%

Ok he had a purple patch of late, but one swallow & all that. He's a decent player for me, nothing more

Never defended Naismith, never will.

Looking at the top forwards in the league over the past years i'd say there are 3 types who could be lumped together

Ferdinand
Drogba
Shearer
Rooney

Henry
Yorke
Cole

Le Tissier
Cantona
Sheringham
Berbatov

Which type would fit best into our system?

...it might be stating the obvious, but this is right. Its the quality in the top third that makes the difference. You see the likes of Chelsea holding out in games knowing they have the type of players who will score a goal at some time in the game.
