Absolutely nobody has said it was “easy”. So do what then Eggs? Keep with Moyes because he’ll keep us up and don’t even bother being ambitious and try for something better?

….no, as I’ve said you want progress and we’ve certainly progressed since he came in. He took us over in a bad place. Time will come for change but it’s certainly not now. Hopefully we continue forward momentum next season.

This is why I keep saying the Actual Poll should be

Would you hand Moyes the Transfer Kitty this Summer ?

A contract is a piece of paper that can ripped up tomorrow. As for another messed up window, well, You're trucked 🤷‍♂️

Well he just wont play any of them, so we will have a bench worth more than the team.

This is why he has to go.
He would play what he perceives is his best players which he has done this season.

He's results driven so it wouldn't make sense to leave better players on the bench.

He plays his favourite experienced players.

You telling me Aznou Dibling Rohl couldnt of been used more this season? They deserve little to nothing in game time?
Aznou could of played on the wing ahead of Myko instead of McNeil at times
Dibling could of give Illy a blow for the last 15 minutes of games
Rohl should of had a lot more minutes than he has

I could understand if we was flying most of the season but we have been inconsistent and yet the same failing players stay in the side.

The only decision, of course, is that Moyes is either handed a new contract or they've effectively sacked him by handing him 12 months notice.

As soon as the season's final whistle blows TFG have to 💩 or get off the pot.

There's only a new contract or his dismissal. The players targeted this summer wont sign up for managers they dont know for sure will be there long.

It’s absolutely crazy those arguing we go into a season with a manager in his final year. Especially when we’ve seen what a lot of these players have done under previous managers and this one included recently. Even more absurd that this would be seen as stability. It would be a car crash.

The club needs certainty either way.

Absolutely.

Back him or sack him.

The former doesn't bear thinking about in terms of the utter Dads Army muck he'd bring in to play and back him up in the dressing room.

There are three options this summer and this is the middle option for me. I would prefer a new manager but I doubt that happens. A 12 month extension for DM is a far better idea than letting him run down the contract.

Genuine question though, at what point do we start wanting to accelerate that progress? Say we finish 12th this year and call that progress, then 11th the year after and the same, at what point does 'progress' just become treading water?

Like I say, i'm genuinely curious as to how people see that. I can't get on board with such a risk averse, 'careful what you wish for' mindset myself but I appreciate that for some people it's different so i'm interested to see just how different.

I'd move him upstairs and bring in Sam Allardyche as the manager.

Never finished outside the top eight when manager of us. That will get us Europe plus the transition in styles is football is minimal between these Jurassic Park managers.

Stability, defensive negative pragmatic football.

WINNER WINNER GRUEL DINNER
Kevin Nolan as DOF
Pulis U21 coach

We would have a proper identity

Hoofs of war

So we give him a 12 month extension. Exactly the same boat this point next year after another midtable stability season.

What then? Another 12 months?

….we were in a mess last summer heading into that window with so many players out of contract, change isn’t instant especially with a large portion of the squad that has struggled for so long.

I’ve always felt Moyes himself isn’t in this for the long-term but I have no insight into that, he might well want to retire in 12 months. I do think the progress has been decent given the situation he inherited, I’d be sure the owners will want him to stay for at least another season.

Let’s see where we are this time next year, you could throw a blanket over the teams from the edge of Champions League qualification to mid-table. We certainly need to continue our progression.

But what's your answer to the question I asked? What would you see as progress next year and the year after? Do you foresee a point where not doing a bad job is no longer classed as doing a good job?

I'm on the fence about what we should do next year but I really just don't think giving him a new contract and committing to having him here long term is an appealing prospect at all, so i'm interested to hear the rationale of those who think he should stay longer and definitely needs to stay in the short term. What do you think our aims should be and at what point (if any) does the desire to actually have some success and/or entertain people start to override the fear of making a mistake and finishing lower than 12th?

It depends on how he performs
Well you seem to think he deserves one based on this season.

So if he gives us another year of 48 ish points he just keeps going on and on?

Palace have had stick for years of being a nothing club (before recent success). Finish 12th every season.

Is that what we should accept now? 9 time league winners Everton, accept lower midtable because that's what Davey tell us were good for.
