Understand that but then really what’s the point if there’s no desire to do better than that.

I'm sure there is the desire, but it would be very difficult to turn a relegation battling side into anything much more ambitious in one or two summer windows. We still have a few glaring gaps in our squad, which I think is valued about 15th in the league, and even with last summer's outlay is also 19th in terms of net spend over the past 5yrs. New full back(s) and anything approaching a decent striker and we might have a team.

Did anybody else notice that in the email dated 10th April they quote the price for one-off payment and for the DD which says the same total price and nothing added for interest until you do the maths ? Rather misleading as they almost imply interest free.

I was watching an academy game from Goodison on video yesterday. I felt like crying. Now that IS a football stadium. Even with a few people sprinkled on the terraces and whole parts of the ground taken out of action. That was and always will be home.

The new stadium is a fantastic event venue, but it's not home and wont be for anyone for an awful long time.

Probably allowing Goodison to survive has been a strategic mistake in that respect.

Yeah Dave, moving to a completely new stadium is something I don't think I could deal with tbh, in time the new stadium will be come the norm and younger support will see it as their stadium as they grow with it, main thing for the older support other than adapting to the new surroundings is keeping the new generation invested.

I couldn't ever see the OF leaving Pakhead or Ibrox. I know they thought about it - especially Celtic, but it'd be deadly for identity...and that's even before you factor in the mass exploitation of fans to pay for the new 'facility'.

Everton's stadium is a success architecturally and as a stand alone football cathedral. But it's cost us our identity and the fans will be utterly hammered into the floor, with massive implications for the traditional fanbase.

In short: Everton are on the way to become 'not Everton'. That's a game not worth the candle.

Anyone else get an email saying one week to go even though they’ve already renewed? You’d think they’d have a system of just chasing those who haven’t yet renewed!

Not renewing, too many sunday and monday games, son inlaw who i tavel with strugleing with time off work to go the match, we will go 6 or 7 games next season and pay top whack for tickets and stay over in Liverpool and get lathered win lose or draw.
So sorry to hear you aren't going to renew Goldie, but glad you are still going to go to the games when you can. ;)

Parkhead and Ibrox are both sizeable stadiums that could even be expanded further if it made sense to do so. We could have added another 6k or so seats to the park end but that wouldn't pull in the difference to make us competitive.

It was change or die, when middle of the road clubs can out spend you the gig is up.
