I've already established that this is not strictly true Michael. I only used a sample size of one week like.
I'll use an even smaller sample size this week; West Ham used 4 subs, the last of whom came on in the 83rd minute. Granted we only used 2, but it was far from our strongest bench of the season. The last sample set of fixtures I used had Dyche using 4, 10 others using 5, some using 3, and Pep with a weak bench using 2.
Not saying he couldn't or shouldn't use more, but this thing of everybody is changing half their team for significant chunks of matches is just not true. Even when 5 subs are used it's normally that one was brought on very late.
It’s not just about using all 5 subs, though I really don’t understand why teams don’t do it more often, especially teams like ours who are without the ball for so much of the match and have ran themselves legless chasing shadows.
Wham had made their changes so didn’t need to use the 5th, as they were well on top in the game and the more likely to win, which they would have if Pickford hadn’t pulled off his heroics.
It’s not just about throwing more legs on whenever, it’s about game management to halt the oppositions momentum, about being proactive or even reacting to what your eyes are telling you, when many of our players are dead on their feet and breathing out of their arses, that’s what is totally frustrating with dyche.
He’s got pre planned subs and won’t deviate, same as his tactics, pathetic.
Our keeper was screaming at our bench for subs again at the weekend, it’s just embarrassing, and again we nearly threw the point away when we could have got all 3 with better game management.
