2025/26 Seamus Coleman

He's the player of the 21st century so far for Everton. The player most Evertonians and probably outsiders think of first when they think of Everton. Much more so than Rooney, Baines, Lukaku etc.

A once in a generation (or two) player who embodies the values of a football club. That's why he'll always be universally loved and respected. He's Mr Everton.

At least Dave can sing YNWA with them in unison.

He can borrow his mates jacket:

It’ll make a nice change from his donkey jacket.

You're right, Dave. He embodies Everton perfectly: Old, used to be good years ago, hasn't won a trophy in living memory, been mismanaged by Bill Kenwright...

He IS Everton.

Perhaps that's why we need a New Everton.

It doesn't really matter about that. We had players in the past synonymous with the club who won nothing and were long serving and embodied the values of the club and are still special players who embody who we are. They'll remain so for all time - more so than many players who won stuff.

Farrell, Latchford, Lyons - to name just three.

They'll be forever treasured and revered.

The points you speak to detract nothing from my argument.

You might as well add the Toffee Lady to your list. Synonymous with Everton, embodies our values, special. Won nothing either.

I don't have an issue with Seamus being revered as a symbol of his era and of the club in that era. The issue is it was a crap era, a gaslighting era where the fans were manipulated and Coleman was a cipher of that manipulation. Seamus is also now of the past. We need to move on. Dewsbury-Hall spoke more sense the other night than Seamus has in years. His time is up. Get him off the stage before he's getting pelters. Nobody needs that.
