I don't think it's worth getting into a row mate as I suspect your position may well be entrenched , if not my apologies . I watched it on the telly and thoroughly enjoyed the match and in all honesty could completely understand the elation the Hibs fans felt but the footage of their behaviour isn't defensible . No doubt Rangers fans fought but let's be fair the players had already been attacked then . It's sad as it's hugely distracted from the massive historical achievement by Hibs .
I try and judge every situation by putting myself in the position of my club . If it was Everton I would be embarrassed about wholesale assaulting of players and would hope my club wouldn't put it down as over exuberance . Of course rangers fans fought and yiu won't find me defending fighting and you can see it on the footage but you have to accept things had already kicked off at that stage , Fotheringham was shoved fairly early on and the Hibs fans crossed the halfway line which again seems fairly obvious if you're looking to point the finger .
The old firm is polarised and opinions mean that any misdeed percieved or otherwise is jumped on by the other side . I've said before despite my upbringing , I have on occasion a enjoyed watching Rangers but in my life have watched and enjoyed both sides along with many others in Scotland and throughout Europe . I think like many though I find the old firm baggage & its polarised 'what-a-boutary' simply tiresome . Which is sad as at is best some of their contests although not being fantastic football can be hugely entertaining .
Fair point mate, and I doubt either will shift their opinions!
I haven't defended Hibs actions and I agree running on the pitch and invoking violence is reprehensible. I do find it a bit rich though, that Ranger's who's fans also ran on the pitch are a tad hypocritical making such a song and dance over the issue. It is kopite behaviour at it's finest (not the first time either).
In all honesty had Everton behaved how either team did yesterday I would be appalled. It would not be becoming of our club and I would want want my club to ban the idiots identified in doing so, as they were dragging the name of Everton through the mud. There'd be no "magnificent 7" nonsense here.
People can choose whatever team they wish to support, it really is a free country. I've met a couple of decent Rangers lads (and my ex girlfriend was a big Rangers fan too). Most that I've met tend to hate us but that's just my experience. Footballs a funny game really and illogical. When you hate a team like I do Liverpool you end up finding out every bit of them and hating it all. I can't forgive the actions of John Houlding and the sorts of people he associated with. They were the Rangers of the South. I was also brought up singing the song about throwing Rangers fans (alongside Kopites) in the Mersey. It sticks with you really.
Good luck to anyone supporting anyone. I have no time for Rangers though and I do see a lot of parallels that remain tot his day with Kopites. There is an arrogance, an aggression and a subsequent victimhood that follows when no responsibility is taken. I'm sure others will see it differently, good luck to them.
As for the cup final it looks like both sets of fans behaved awfully. Only one club appears to be pointing the finger though. I would say they should look in the mirror before doing so, but I doubt they will.
