Michael O'Neil turns down Scotland

Can't believe like Rangers they threw all their eggs in one basket and didn't have a plan B.

Would be interesting to find out what they offered and the exact reasons he why he turned them down.

I honestly think they will be hard pressed for the money and conditions they are offering to get a better guy than Strachan, in my humble opinion he did a decent job with the resources at hand and was unlucky to have gained momentum with the team a little too late to qualify for the world cup.

Big sam is available after Leicester beat us .........it's rumoured

The Scotland job is a pressure cooker, the minimum expectation of the media, fans is qualification. Any manager that falls below that (as many obviously have) gets a hard time. I actually thought Strachan was doing well, and he got slated! Most wanted him gone after the Euro qualifiers. I would have stuck with Strachan, even though Scotland managers don’t generally get more than 2 chances, I thought he was getting it right. The qualification groups we had were really tough.

When Strachan left though, we had Moyes and Lambert - free agents! Much better options than O’Neill imo, and obviously wouldn’t have cost compensation, but the SFA piss-farted around as usual, and didn’t even get the man they were waiting on.

I think Scotland are in a better position with players, and young players coming through, than we have for a long, long time. It’s a decent opportunity for someone to come in and be the first to qualify for over 20 years! Especially after the nations league draw!

Local press here in Belfast said there was 2 main reasons.

1. He had spoke to the Senior NI players who almost all committed to staying for one more campaign if he stayed on.

2. It transpired that the SFA had repeatedly asked the IFA to waive Michael's 500k contract release clause and he felt it was unprofessional and showed they didn't really value him.

Truth probably is that although his kids are Scottish born and bred, Michael himself still is Northern Irish and it's difficult to leave the country you identify with, especially since you're loved there too.

Dundee Utd 0 v 3 Morton

Performance of the season for Greenocks finest, with 2 outstanding goals from Tiffony and Iredale and a good one from O'Ware. Unfortunately, this result almost certainly hands our biggest rivals St. Mirren the league. Worth it though to get our first victory at Tannadice for 40 years. Mon e 'Ton.

Can you still make the play offs?

Probably Mikey. Dundee Utd have the biggest budget in the division, but St. Mirren have easily been the best team in the league, though it pains me to say that. Our problem has been results against the bottom 3 teams, not the teams at the top. Not lost to St. Mirren in 3 games, but only had 2 wins against Brechin, Dumbarton & Falkirk in 9 games.

Have had worse weekends ;)
