Word salad. The chairwoman of Falkirk FC humiliated Dean Shiels, by interrogating him at the trial of the Falkirk player who abused him.The actions of Falkirks officials regarding that incident, influenced the behaviour of the fans, who threw the fake eyeballs on the pitch.Falkirk FC's apology cuts no ice with me.
Falkirk should be immediately suspended from playing any more games this year and should start next season in the lowest league possible.
For Dean Shields to lose an eye and still make it as a professional footballer shows what sort of man he is. To have two fellow professionals to taunt him about the lose of his eye is below contempt. For supporters to do what they did in a premeditated act is unbelievable.
Surely somewhere between going into a shop to buy the things, traveling to the ground and throwing the things unto the pitch you would have thought common descency would kick in.
His father, who manages Derry City, was interviewed on Ulster TV and said his son is abused every week.
I would have thought this was a police matter.
Jeez! Relegated to the lowest league? lol because a few idiots did what they did? If we’re going to start relegating teams for the actions of a few mindless fans, we’ll have no teams left in the top flight!
Of course it was stupid what they did. Absolutely nothing compared to the 90s after Norrie McCathie died though! Not to mention the songs sung by Dunfermline fans about Craig Gowans, the Falkirk academy player who tragically died in a training ground accident. Worth pointing out too that a Dunfermline fan was in court this week, charged, and found guilty of racial abuse towards our player, Myles Hippolyte, not quite the same media coverage on that lol
When you have two huge rivals playing each other, this type of thing happens. All you can do is get the perpetrators and ban them for life!
Our club has been dragged through the mud by the media this week, because of a few idiots! All the team can do is respond like we did yesterday
Caolam, the players from the previous incident were dealt with, the current incident regarding the crowd is currently being investigated and I'm pretty sure the police will be involved but they're hardly going to advertise the fact, I don't honestly know where the officials have been involved in this other than at the SFA hearing where would you believe it players are entitled to representation and as such in turn all involved are going to be questioned to establish the truth which was achieved quite rightly in Dean's favour. But it wasn't just a few fans, it was players, fans and club officials.
I don't understand why the police haven't been involved, surely that level of abuse is criminal.

The club has wholeheartedly condemned the current ongoing incident and I'm sure there will be an announcement soon regarding progress with the investigation.
No team is going to be relegated on the behaviour of literally a handful of supporters.
Unfortunately your post has now attracted the attention of @Cork Evertonian , you may now find yourself classed as his new BFF.
You argue well in regard to Falkirk.
My issue is that I find lots of things about football which could be cured but the authorities seem to be in denial. A player abusing Shields in an isolated incident can be looked at as being exactly that, isolated. Two players starts to establish a pattern. A club official cross examining the abused party for twenty minutes when it would appear the players were guilty adds to that pattern. Supporters then, in a premeditated act, again abusing that player becomes an issue. I feel there is enough in this case to make an example of the club, and such an example that other clubs will not only play lip service to the issue of abuse no matter where it comes from.
It is the same in cases of diving, the authorities set up a panel who investigate ad hoc. An Arsenal player just went to ground for a free kick against Forest, look what happened to us on Friday night. I'd decisive action was taken against divers, apart from Niasse, it would stop happening.
There has to be a will to stamp out the problems within the game, there might be some initial pain but it will be worth it.
Inaction only goes to exacerbate problems, action, however painful, solves problems.
Mate, I do agree with you on plenty of points you make, except three, the first is unless you are aware of something I'm not, the question whether someone is aggrieved is sometimes not known until all the fact's have been established, I am not defending the player's involved here, in fact they should have been punished further, at some point it would have been established that the player's were guilty, do you know in the trial when that point was reached? because I don't and as I've said previously all involved would have to have been questioned to establish the fact's, having ascertained he was the aggrieved party 20 minutes may then seem unreasonable but that is the system and if it were not the official would have been charged himself.
The second point is let's be reallistic here, the authorities are not going to relegate the club to the lowest Scottish league that would only happen in the most extreme case's such as Rangers old co or whatever they were called before they were liquidated.
Thirdly the guy's name is Dean Shiels and to argue passionately about something that has perhaps only been brought to your attention recently you might want to have his correct name to assist you .

I think we would
I think all right thinking football fans want to see the ills which affect the game sorted. On that we agree.
In regard to your response I would say. The two players involved would have been interviewed by Falkirk prior to any hearing. The official would have known the circumstances of the alleged abuse prior to speaking to Shiels. That official would have been told they didn't do it and believed them and went in with an aggressive cross examination. When the tribunal had reached its conclusion and they were found to be guilty then it would have been obvious that they had lied. In that case Falkirk should have punished them further. Alternatively they owned up and told the club what they had done and then a twenty minute cross examination was only to negate what they had done. If we are to accept there is no integrity in football then let us embrace that and allow players to cheat, use drugs and fix matches.
I am being realistic, until football authorities start to take actions which will be punitive then clubs and players will continue to break the rules because the rewards outstrip punishment.
I must apologise for misspelling Dean Shiels name. No excuse for that, him being a fellow countryman and having met his father on a number of occasions.
I obviously knew the outline of the case at the time but have only just read a little bit more in depth, Shiels was actually questioned for 2 hours by Falkirk official and solicitor Margaret Lang at the hearing and she'd basically said the same as I'd explained that they were trying to establish all of the facts and she wouldn't be doing her job if she hadn't....and so on. Falkirk were only playing by the rules and please note it was his father who was complaining about it not Dean himself, and he hadn't even been at the the hearing.
With regards to the club punishing them further, I'm sure there is something within the human rights act where you can't be punished twice for the same thing. this may also cover employment as well as criminal, but I stand to be corrected on that as it is supposition.
I am not defending the players or the fans here as I think those responsible have over stepped the mark of common decency and I hope the fans responsible are caught and made an example of, I just think the club which has always been decent and Community spirited have done as much as they can up to now and whilst some may not like it their hands are tied in some respect by law and officialdom, let's see how they deal with the situation in the coming weeks as things may develop and unfold further then perhaps we may have new developments to discuss which I would look forward to as you have put your points over very eloquently Caolam.
Looks like Naisy has joined Hearts till season end. Oh Naisy! How are the mighty fallen?
