Saves of All Time

Rubbish. Every save a goalkeeper makes is by definition within his reach. Another goalie doesn't even move for that Tonali shot and everyone would assume it's unsaveable.

Up to you, I played in goal and happy to stand by my opinions how I used to see the game. If I got a hand to it and didn't keep it out of the net I would see that as my fault.

I forget the game, but it was on YouTube recently, the one where Howard claws the ball out when it has already passed him was very good as well.

But to be fair Pickford is quality, how we have managed to keep a keeper of his quality during some of our bad years recently.

Southampton at home, probably Howard's beat ever save for us and it was in one of his last games for us

It obviously wasn't straight at him though because he had to move to save it. It's a ludicrous comment.

I played in goal too and you're talking nonsense. Jordan plays in goal for England and he himself said it was one of his best saves.

I've given you the still at the point he saved it, he didn't have to move (his body) to get a hand to it. You get a split second to pick up the flight of the ball and you dive accordingly. You being a keeper should know this.

Show me one bit where I've said it was an easy save. I've used the term 'world class' as I understand what it takes, but at the same time it was near enough straight at him to enable him to make it.

Every save by definition is near enough to the keeper to be saved. The Columbia save was close enough to him to be saved and the ball travelled a long way at quite a slow speed giving him plenty of time to move his feet and make a dive. If the ball was an inch further away from Pickford in this instance he's not saving it.

Agree with this, of course it's still a world class save due to the pace it is hit with, but it is close enough for someone with Pickford's reactions to get a hand to it. And if you can do that as a keeper, then it is disappointing if you don't keep it out of the net.

His save for England v Colombia was better.
The reactions are top top notch.

Still it's in the center of the goal and shoulder height. I'd have been livid if he let that in.

All about the angles i suppose

That does make it look more impressive but remember the camera is on the floor, he is only a few inches off the ground there.

He is at least at knee height, so a bit more than a 'few' inches.

Also, in your other posts you are trying to take away the fact that it was a world class save, but still call it world class? I am confused, if it is world class then there is nothing that can be said to imply that it was not world class, for example, well it was within reach? Well of course it was within reached, as he reached it. But the speed of the ball, the fact that he did have to jump up and to the side, in that extremely small reaction time window, says to me that there are no caveats here, it was world class.

Seriously don't understand how this has escalated into a debate, 'head scratch moment..
Or should I just be used to it now..

It was a cracking save, Angles, slow mo's, still's, can all do one.

Just watch it in real time, enjoy the "jump off your seat" moment. Instead of trying to pick it apart..
