It was a very good and crucial save, and I'm sure he is buzzing given when it happened and against who
However its close enough to him that its slightly in the "should get a hand to it" territory for me
It is impressive getting such a strong hand to it
Not close to an all time best for me tho
Only watched it 3 or 4 times without really focusing in on it that much
It needs to be watched at full speed. Non of this slow mo stuff as at full speed you appreciate it more. It was travelling at some speed.
Yes it was fairly close to him but I've seen many similar shots fly past the keeper due to how much power was on the shot.
I love Jordan Pickford. Best player we’ve had this century.
Here is another super goalie we’ve had.
In fairness to Chico, he's a master at it, THE master perhaps. He doesnt discriminate, he winds up blues or non-blues.Dont you get bored trying to wind fellow Blues up, it was funny years ago, by the way
I always thought Southall often went to ground too early in one on ones, was the one thing I thought he could improve on.Godlike.
The best. Ever.
Reflexes sharper than razor blades, but it was his presence in the box that made him the best. Look at some of the all-time greats he foiled in that video - Rush, Lineker, etc. One-on-one, there was never anybody better. Ian Rush holds the record for goals in derbies. That record would be utterly uncatchable were in not for Neville Southall. He'd have scored triple the goals.
The Sheffied United double save is the one - or two - for me. But that's cheating. Hard to beat a double save.I didnt think it was a great as people were making out, it was great though.
The one against Chelsea was much better imo.
Southall has always had that one for me…..but that Pickford one takes it…..
He should have bowed out that day, would have been a beautiful ending to a truly magnificent career,I still recall sadly his last ever appearance v Spurs at Goodison a 2-0 reversal,a few catcalls and derisory comments towards him that day unbecoming of what he had achieved for us over so many years. Was watching that with my eldest the other day as she's started playing as a GK.
The double save from Scholes in the '95 FA Cup (2.15 ish) doesnt get enough credit. Vital time of the game and meant we weathered a bit of pressure from Man Utd.
