He’s a back up striker, 32 years of age and coming to us off the back of 2 years in semi retirement in China. If he doesn’t work out this season, good luck with moving him on if his wages are anything like what has been rumoured.

Always had a bit of a soft spot for Rondon following the McCarthy leg break incident, and the way he saved Yedlin from a nasty fall. It’s the little things I remember. Hopefully he will score a few and contribute during his time here.

The upper body bulk is his physical character, it makes him particularly powerful in the air because defenders can’t impact the leap. Lescott and Distin were similar, we should be a threat from crosses when he’s on the pitch.

To be honest it's hard not to like him as a person never mind as a footballer. I'm actually rooting for him big style to do the bizz for us.

Stylistically, he seems a great fit for how Benitez wants us to play. He'll be physical enough for the league and has scored roughly 1/3 for West Brom and Newcastle.

He managed a decent number of assists at Newcastle too, so anything like the goals and assist tally at Newcastle and he'll be a very useful signing.
