Great documentary, check it out on the iPlayer if you didn't see it. Part 2 is next week.

Classic fly on the wall football documentary.

It was a good watch, always like this type of show, behind the scences etc of a footy club, just think what ours would be like lol

They should have been giving their time and money to FC United.
From all accounts FC United aren't particularly liked within footballing circles because of some of those who are involved and their particular views.

They'd most probably not get the influence they would want and would be challenged by those involved in the club (it's very political).

Salford gives them more flexibility and less hassle; it's the easier and sensible option.

They have a constitution that's totally at odds with the money grabbing football industry. That, as far as Im aware, is their only crime.

I can't confess to know the particular 'ins and outs' of the club, just a few friends who are avid non-league devotees are rather critical of them.

By 'them' they refer to people who are involved in the club both in the higher echelons and as fans: good idea; not particularly good in practice.

Again I'm not personally involved, so I'm just going from the judgement of those who I know are into non-league football. Take it as you will...

This is their mission statement: http://www.fc-utd.co.uk/m_manifesto.php

I thought it was a good watch and clearly they have bought the club for the right reason at heart. I can't help but think though that it becomes a play thing and expensive Football Manager game for them. Can't decide whether it is a good or bad thing in the long run, guess time will tell.

It's pretty difficult not to see the new ownership of Salford City as anything other than a cynical attempt to sideline FC United. The latter have had their validity questioned by United, especially by Ferguson who was very hostile toward them, and it'd come as no surprise to learn these ex-players were being used and encouraged to become involved in a rival lower league club. There has to be an element of the United corporate machine trying to undermine any lingering affinity many United supporters have with FC United.
