Not my words, but I can sympathise with the sentiment.

Should Everton fail to win and Liverpool beat Southampton, the prospect of European football at Goodison next season will seem remote – an eventuality that may cause the club to relieve David Moyes of the position he has been threatening to abandon. Although under Moyes Everton have bought and played well, the team can be charged with competitive deficiencies that would render his sacking understandable. Throughout Moyes's tenure, Everton have contrived to lose derby matches, difficult away games and important cup ties. The problem for him is that professional sport is unlike most other industries; success is measured not in achievement, but in expectation.

See point 8 here.

Do I get a flashing warning QI style and drop 5 points if I point out we don't always finish 7th? In fact its 3 times in nearly 30 years.

There have been moments when it would have been understandable, but a sacking isn't remotely on the cards, his contract ends soon. I don't agree that success is measured in expectation either.

Unless a class replacement is available, I'd say we are best off keeping Moyes. He just needs to be backed a bit more!

Yeah, you're right...i'm just paraphrasing our mighty captain while touching on the 7th-place trophy meme.

Fact is Kenwright would never be arsed to sack his mate.

No point sacking him this season. I think the phrase 'not offering him a new deal would be understandable' makes more sense.

We all know he'll never get sacked. The club's board will go down on their knees if it means Moyes signing (confirmed by Stan Collymore's TalkSport interview with the Everton source).

Still, interesting to read a journo using the term "sacking". Normally Moyes is championed by mainstream football writers.

It's a No from me. I want him gone, but we're Everton, let's do it with dignity, let his contract expire, don't offer him a new one and wish him well wherever he goes .. if indeed any club of any substance actually wants him.

Sadly I think he'll still be here next season.

I think if he is even backed slightly with this tv money then Everton would be vastly improved. I want him to stay and oversee transfers with a large influx of cash and I think he has earned the right to do it tbh. Right now a lot of people see him as the devil incarnate for whatever reasons, but he is still the best man for the job beyond this season for me.

No point sacking him. Let him finish what he started. I'd much rather he stayed sold Fellaini and gave it another go next season. Even if it is his last. I genuinely we won't miss Fellaini. Easily replaced in that role he's been playing.

I agree but Kenwright is never going to sack his mate Moyes. We could lose 7-0 against Liverpool everytime for the next 5 years and finish 17th and he'd still offer him a new contract.

Well said and agreed.

I don't think any of the top 6 will want him (a propensity to lose important matches is not a skill required by the top clubs).

For the reason, see above.
