Agree it is an irredeemable situation, but like all situations driven by ego and greed it is never clearly thought out, but that doesn't stop them repeating the same mistakes by the same means time and time again.

I don't hold out much hope for the US - when Trump is by a distance the least bad in foreign policy terms of the Republican candidates, and Hilary was about 10% of the Secretary of State that Kerry has been - but there are some signs of optimism here at least, given that further involvement in Syria opposed because people recognize it for what it is (ie: bombing Assad), that the idea that we would bomb Iran (which is what Blair was arguing for a few years ago) has been almost eradicated, and that the one EU leader to emerge with credit from the refugee crisis is Cameron (given that the Germans have rowed backwards even more yesterday,
giving their non-refugees a years' grace now).
Obviously the Blairite idiots will wreck things by getting rid of Corbyn, though.
