RS outnumber us 2:1 in Liverpool, has it always been this way?

People who have no interest in footy will say Liverpool as they successful so not sure where the suprise is.

Lad in our work never mentioned footy in the 8 years I knew him but last 2 years is posting match review comments on various RS pages. I actually called him out on it and he said he never misses a game on TV even if he has to stream it. He said that without irony. When the wheels fall off they will crawl back under their rocks

On a broader point (really addressed to much older blues), when did the RS overtake us in size? Or were the clubs always level up until a point in time? In the Dixie era were we the biggest club in the land? (that last one is more for historians)

Up until the 1960s, both clubs had five league titles, we had two cups. Both clubs were able to generate 50k plus attendances. Something changed after that. Was it simply the Shankly impact (and legacy) that drove them on to another level? It was the decade where the city was the centre of pop culture, and they had an anthem that came from that sound. Having the city name must have had an effect also. As a club they seemed to forge a strong identity that became known to the wider public, while Catterick kept us in the shadows (that’s just how it seems anyway without having gone through it).
We generated 60K+ attendances...just saying.

Most of the pubs are miles more choca when Liverpool play than when Everton are on like, that prob has something to do with them actually trying to win stuff though or at least challenging, were as it's not uncommon for us to be midtable mediocrity and out the cups by Jan/Feb. When you take into consideration the Wool infestation of the city over the last 10-15 years that's been like a pandemic in the area, then I don't think it's far wrong. I take comfort in knowing most of the wrongun's, middle class nonces and weirdos support them as well though.

Have you ever considered for a second that some of these people maybe returning to the city after their parents (mine included) "infested" those miles away places that are so far away that they have public bus services to Liverpool ?

don't know why I'm asking tbh as you clearly think that us "wools" aren't allowed to support either club like the previous 3 & 4 generations of our families did.

Try looking at it in a positive way, we'll improve your grammar & diction eventually, then we can start on your obvious bigotry.

Spot on. I am from Liverpool and hate the superiority complex. ScouseNotEnglish brigade make me cringe.

I do rip Liverpool fans from London etc as its clear they are glory hunting scum but anyone who supports a club like Everton and lives anywhere else is a sadist but more imporantly they are top lads.

Big difference between a blue and red wool. Blues come into the City and go the match. Reds flood the City centre bars with no intention of going the match, and to watch it on the telly. The majority of them a pain in the backside.

Totally invalid opinion when you go down that 'wool route' no matter who they do or don't support... and VERY tiresome.

It's how your defining a fan though isn't it? I reckon we have far more scouse fans who actually go to the match than them.

I agree, it does depend on the definition.

Are non-scouse fans of Everton not "fans"? Are they less Evertonians than if they were from the city?

Just before I retired from some 7 years ago, I was contracted by Liverpool City Council to do checks on medical equipment installed within the council properties.
Had on heart I would say those houses with allegiance to the two football clubs was 60/40 in our favour. I honestly thought it would at least be the other way round. I reckon that just within the city boundaries 50/50 would be a more accurate figure.

I know it's a cliché but ten possibly 15 yrs ago that's when I noticed at RS televised games, when close up of a corner was shown there was an array of Oriental fans racing to take photographs. Since then of course it's increased massively.

Yep. Ironically, the very commercial market we’re targeting to attract ourselves with the move to BMD.

I've felt it's been more 60/40 their way for the last 5 years or so, quite shocked to see it being 2:1 (scoreline joke in there somewhere) from a surbey of locals, though.
