Joe Anderson has provided a fascinating insight into Farhad Moshiri - the man he is convinced will take his beloved Everton into a bright future.

The Mayor of Liverpool was a guest on the Echo's Royal Blue podcast and addressed a wide range of topics; reflecting on his meetings with billionaire investor Moshiri, his thoughts on Ronald Koeman, the club's past search for investment and their dreams of a new stadium.

Life-long Everton supporter Joe also gave his verdict on the Blues new tactics, signings and transfer targets - along with a forthright view on their interest in England No 1 goalkeeper Joe Hart.

The Mayor on....Ronald Koeman
"Koeman's style and set-up seems to be so we can compete. What every Evertonian wants is passion and a competitive player.

"I'm chuffed with his style and approach. I feel like it suits Everton to the ground.

"For him to say the players are only 70 per cent fit is refreshing. We've watched that for the last three years and it's not been good enough.

"Martinez was sometimes talking as if he'd been at a different game than most of us. I'm not knocking him he's a lovely guy but a bit of a one-trick pony.

"We never seemed to adapt and change our game which was a frustrating thing."

The Mayor on...Farhad Moshiri
"This is a guy who is no mug."

"He knows what he wants on the pitch and off it. I would say to Evertonians; 'You are in for an experience that will take us on an upwards trajectory. He will get it right'.

"His knowledge of football is vast.

"We have got somebody who is absolutely committed to the club and we should be made up that Bill Kenwright and Robert Elstone have found him."

The Mayor on...Idrissa Gueye
"His engine is great but also his ability to break things down and then see a pass. The simple things.

"He was passing forwards which was great to see. I want everyone to have that stamina level.

The Mayor on...going to the match
"I still love going to the game. I use it as a break. It's a release valve for me and a chance to socialise with my friends.

"I've been going since I was eight. I used to deliver Lemonade to Joe Royle's house for ticket money and get the bus from Park Lane where I grew up in Dingle."
