Just a little help please. My old man has been going on for some time about an old Roy Vernon book does anyone know what it's called?

He was one of my Dad's heroes and if I could get a copy of this book for him he would be made up.

Thanks blues, Keep the faith.

Some fantastic quotes in those pages. Vernon saying he'd have preferred to have won the FA Cup -- shows just how big a competition that used to be. Everton supporters being 'the best in the game' despite reported hooligan behaviour (we were of course the original football hooligans; nothing to be proud of I suppose). References to the infamous Main Stand cushions,to playing 3-5-2 (yep, there's nothing today that's totally new to football), and to crap referees (plus ca change...). Magic.

And then there's the piece on Catterick, talking about the pressures at Everton, how if a player is wanted the Board make the money available, and how the fans demand success -- and if it's not forthcoming they call for the manager's head.

Read it all and weep.
