I am going to give Ross the benefit of the doubt and will do so until proven otherwise.
I do not believe Ross is a Machiavellian type of lad.
Nor do I believe his agent would do a grand old Duke of York and march him up to the top of the Chelsea hill only to march him straight back down again.
Presumably he deals with Chelsea on a regular basis or if not, he would be desirous of doing business with that club in the future.
So I cannot see him wanting to jeopardise that relationship by appearing to play Chelsea with a view to selling his client at a lesser fee in January.
Ditto Everton...he needs to keep Everton as an option for his clients.
So I am going to give Ross the benefit and will believe that when faced with actually leaving a club he has loved all his life, he had a change of heart and couldn't go through with it.
He wants to stay.
Perhaps I am being naive, foolish even, but that is what I am wanting to believe right now
