Ross Barkley

There is a very strange narrative amongst some of our fans I'm baffled by it.

Replace your two best players Ross & rom because they didn't beat a better team.

How about replacing 5 of the other 9 players so that they have at least the chance to grow into the game.

How many players win their team games in these big games that are saddled with teammates the quality of our back 5.

Seriously my brain can't compute it let's replace 44 goals & assist combined first before we sort the real problems of the team out.

Seems Ross is taking a lot of flack for Saturday even though he has been our best player for a while.

He will be boss tomorrow and I bet no one notices.

Wish the derby didn't exist at times like this. Hope we just move on and forget it.

He will go missing along with Lukaku

Good article from Neville this.

Couple of points he makes

“I actually expected that performance from Ross on Saturday, I really did after what happened with England,” said Neville. “England would have been a massive disappointment for the kid.

“He would have gone into the game on Saturday trying too hard to show the world why he should have got on the pitch. I expected it because I know the kid and I know how much he wants to succeed, but it’s one game.

“After the game, people said about the difference between Philippe Coutinho and Barkley. Well I’ve watched Coutinho for the last three months and I’ve not seen many top performances. It’s one game.”

Beat me to it he is completley right not really sure how I feel agreeing with Phil Neville but fair play to him

I know he was poor on Saturday, but watching him over the past few months, it's clearer now more than ever that he's by far the best footballer at the club.

Put him in whichever area of the pitch he's likely to see more of the ball. Sometimes it'll be further forward, and others it'll be deeper.

That's what has wound me up about the media, pundits etc slagging him off, Barkley has been brilliant the last few months but those bellends only pick up on his one bad game for yonks, but then they cream their kecks over the one good game Coutinho has had for months.

Agree, I dont normally pay attention to him but I do believe that Ross was trying too hard to stand out and have a special game when millions of people would be watching, making him play like the Barkley of last year. However we can all see how much he's come on in the last few months.

The bit about Coutinho is spot on too, he's bern woeful the last few months but has a good game on tv and is lauded, Ross has been fantastic but had one bad game on tv and is ripped to shreds by people who havent seen him playing recently.

Yep, played to the occasion rather than just concentrating on playing his natural game.

Worst thing was souness must have seen the Tottenham game I think he may have even been on the panel yet he spoke complete & utter nonsense suggesting Barkley needs to look to countinho for consistency wanted to smash his face in
