Ross Barkley

Very poor first half but improved a lot in the second. Was the only player trying to make something happen in the final third and released the ball to the wings a few times but our crossing wasn't good enough to make the most of it.

Strong challenge on Lovren but NEA, happens every derby from most players.

Tried to help Rom out there by crocking Lovren.

Didn't help.

Its these games where Ross simply has to impact/effect the game in a positive manner more.
Its these games which will get him back into the England line up.

I love the player; think hes great and does seem to be ironing out his inconsistencies. But the big games are where the big players step up and he simply must do that to take himself to the next level.

I think he has played well against most top teams because he is given time and space. Liverpool have done well against the top teams because they plan to stifle the creative and most dangerous players and do it to great effect. Look at Spurs and Arsenal at the pit...nullified the most creative players. Same with Ross and Lukaku not being given an inch. They fully concentrated on our 2 most effective players.

Souness murdered him. It's like the past three months never happened. This one match somehow overrides all the improvements he's shown this season.

If I was playing with him, I would be falling out with him. Not every game; every five minutes. He runs with it when he should pass it, he passes it when he should run with it. His decision making is poor in the extreme, and you can be kidded by him sometimes because he will do that: turn away from a couple of players and flash one over the bar.

He's got all the equipment to be a player, but I just see his decision making not improving. And if his decision making doesn't improve, then he won't improve as a player.

I see him as the kid in the playground. That's how he plays football to me.

All the ath kissing today for Coutinho.....where has he been the last 3 months??? No mention of that....just Ross and his "consistency"!!

Some of you are the worst. One bad game and some of you want him gone. Apart from when kev and enner came on, he was the only one trying to beat a man.

It was a derby. This game is an anomaly to me and we should all move on.

Guarantee against Man U we will be back on track

Shame we couldn't have done the same with Coutinho and Mane banno.

Thing is, when Sewerness made that statement the footage he was talking over from the match showed Barkley spinning away from Liverpool players and looking a real thoroughbred.

The feller hasn't got a clue. Just looking for easy targets.

Barkley is a very frustrated player at the moment. He's been neutered and his game week in week out is not about what we saw today. It's much more conservative...but the lad instinctively knows that conservative is not required in a game like that - discipline, yes.

If anything he was guilty of letting it all get to him and as a local lad and a blue I can understand that. Had the occasion not got the better of him and he bossed it they would have been linking him with a move to Spurs or one of the other Sky 6. That's how the pundits and media perceive Ross. He's either too goood for us and should leave or he's useless and never gonna be the player he should be. We didn't lose today because of Ross that's for sure.

He gets slaughtered all the time but he's fighting battles other top players never have to fight.

Who did he have to play off? Lewin and an isolated Lukaku because we were in a very defensive formation. Souness and whoever else can mouth off whatever nonsense that pleases them but you can substitute Barkley for Coutinho/Alli and whichever other media darling you want in our team today, you're still going to get the same result.
