Ross Barkley

If he doesn't sign or we don't get the offer we want, I'd stick in the u23s. If he actually is 'playing' the club and the fans who backed him, we should play hard ball aswell.

I'm sick of 'career' or 'CL' or 'game time' being used as euphanisums for 'I'm not getting my own way'.

Not playing him is only as expensive as if he was injured anyway.

The club will carry on long after R Barkley has finished playing.

They're not really shocked mate. It's a faux surprise act they're putting on because they know he's our best player and he's leaving....ergo "eeez craaaaaap lad! Why wud any top teem want him?!"
The worry is if it's not a coping mechanism that the majority of this thread are using then we have some of the most deluded fans ive come across the lack of knowledge of the actual game of football is startling.

He isn't our best player though, he could have been but he hasn't become it yet. In time he may become that player but it won't be for us.

To be honest I think Ross wants to leave chiefly because he realises that RK has serious reservations about him.

Of course the story has to be spun about ambitions relating to international career and CL ambitions, but I think they are just that...stories.

RK dropped Barkley on two or three occasions during the season and that is not something you do with a player you really trust.

I really would not be surprised to see Ross leave for a team lower than us in the league where the signing of Barkley would be a huge coup and he would play every week.
Would he get a game every week in the teams that finished ahead of us last season ?

Indeed, he will not get anywhere near a top 4 starting side currently, there would need to be some improvement on his levels of consistency through individual games and run of matches. If he were near champion league level, he would have been snapped up by now, if this so called ambition of champion league was the driver to not commit to Everton.

There are undoubtedly many people who genuinely don't see the talent. It's incredible.

That's doesn't mean spurs don't want to sign him. Chelsea won the league as Willian & fabregas are the best 12th & 13th players in the league they would
start in almost every other team in the league.

Ross clearly isn't as good as Willian or fabregas however spurs have tried numerous times to attract players in this bracket & never really managed to get one over the line.

So what do they do? they are targetting the most creative players in the league from the teams below them Barkley & zaha. No way do they go back
For siggurdsson as he is too old for them now & most effective from set peices when they already have Erickson.

I'm struggling to see why so many people are shocked. from there perspective it's an absolute no brainier particularly as they will be getting him at far below market value.

I understand Spurs wanting to strengthen their bench..... I don't understand Barkley being happy to be just a squad player.... Plus, unless his relationship with Koeman is very bad, I just don't understand why he'd leave Everton right now.....

He will by all accounts be facing a similar battle here yet in a champions league team at spurs & perhaps he wants to play for pochetinho over Koeman.

Koeman has been largely good for Barkley but the public criticism he receives when players like
Mirallas, gueye etc receive none must play on his mind. Gueye was subbed at half time for stinking the gaff out numerous times but nothing was said others too.

When he goes will that stop people telling others that what they see with their own eyes is wrong and Barkley has actually been playing well for ages?

Will it stop people suggesting as well that thinking a player won't be a great loss is a coping mechanism for a massive footballing trauma or the behaviour of an anti-Barkley cabal?
