doesent seem to have the work rate that moyes wants out of a player,
he will be 19 in december and really at that age should be getting first team football

Bit harsh. I'm a massive Ross Barkley fan but it's clear to see he's not ready for starting week in week out for us yet.

I agree there, he's still very "green" but play the f*cking lad for God's sake, every Evertonian I know wants to see more of him, he'll throw the non ST holders (like myself) who attend 8-10 games a season into attending more, knowing we've got this promising exciting player coming through the ranks.

Not too sure about loaning him out to some League 1 club where he'll play most of the time but at a reduced level either, throw him into the games here if we're getting tonked or winning 3-0 by half time...I know they were much more expendable to the club but I believe that Man Utd loaning out Welbeck, Cleverley and Fabio to other Premier League clubs has enhanced their game 100x more than sending them out to bloody Tranmere.

Well why don't we loan Barkley to a PL team?

When Baines first came to the club he struggled to get into the first team for a long time as the manager set a standard he wanted the player to reach before playing him.David Moyes is a very demanding manager and Baines is a better player for it.
I think something similar is happening with Barkley.Barkley has been regarded as the best at each of the levels he has played at to date.Sometmes he was playing a level one or two years above his age...it seemed easy for him.
The level he wants to reach isn't easy...for anybody and I think the manager has set the player a standard he needs to reach to play in the team.Ultimately he will be a better player for it...as was Baines.

Does anyone else think Barkley looked better pre season last summer (ie America, villareal game) as opposed to this pre season ??

He played a measly 216 minutes of premier league football last year, and I think 90% of that came at the very start of the season. That might stunt his development, or if not then certainly his confidence. In last pre season he was full of it, pinging balls everywhere and it was evident against QPR.

He's gone backwards and that's generally what you do when the road ahead is blocked.

Thing is a lot of players don't break through until they're 21-22 so it's far too early to judge but I will say that if he doesn't make it eventually then we've coached him wrong. The boy has the talent, he just needs the games to prove it.

Would have loved to have seen him gone to Celtic on loan as was rumoured.
