Basically this. He needs games under his belt to get used to the Premiership, so, while we're still in with a shout of European football means he's not likely to start. Hopefully next season he'll get a run in the team, the lad's obviously talented.
Why do people keep saying he's "obviously talented"? I've watched nearly all his senior minutes (only on stream, mind) and haven't seen anything that makes me think he'll be the next Rodwell.
He gives the ball away regularly, tries tricks which don't come off and loses positioning when the team lose the ball.
On the plus side, he wants the ball and he seems to have a good eye for a through pass.
I agree he needs more game-time if he's ever gonna be a useful squad player, but to secure more game-time he's got to convince in the little time he gets on the pitch. He's not doing that.
Vellios has done more to warrant more game-time, even doing well when asked to play unconventionally on the wing.
Good luck to Ross, I know how much we really want a local lad to do good again, especially after losing the last two to the monied Manchester clubs. Hopefully he can tighten his game up for next season.
