Aren't we another premier league club though? To me he's saying if he ever leaves Man Utd it will be to move abroad.
The quote was "I've spent my whole career with Everton and Man Utd. I can say I'll never play for another Premier League club" - the implication being apart from those two - which doesn't preclude him coming back here.

Absolutely never ever. Moving forwards, not backwards.
That would be so 'the peoples club' and jobs for the boys, I would cringe so much my back would break.
Looking after ex players who didn't earn a King's wage is a great thing our club does. Lining the pockets of a player who chose to leave us 48 hours before the transfer window closed is not a great thing for our club to do.
No hard feelings against him but It would belittle us, plain and simple.

I would love to see him play again for Everton but we can't justify spending > 200k a week on someone > 30 and who would also need a decent transfer fee.

It doesn't make sense does it ?

No mate, it makes no sense at all. Which is why my brain can't comprehend these threads popping up out of thin air in the Everton forum every 3 months

It's fueled by people wanting to see him in an Everton shirt again which I can relate to !

Unless Man Utd let him leave for free (yeah right ) and he's willing to half his wages (won't happen) it doesn't make sense for us now he is over 30.

I don't even want to see him back. As far as we're concerned he's a relic from the 2000's that we should be moving on from. He's not an Everton legend, he's a Man Utd legend, therefore I have no sentimental attachment to him. I want to see Everton being progressive and looking to the future. But like you said, it's not happening anyway so I don't know why it's being discussed

It's not about the money! It's about moving forward. I am bewildered and enraged with how some people can't see what PR disaster this would be.
Wake up. We've been a laughing stock for years and some people want to suffer more.
Our fit bird jibbed us off, shagged the fella round the corner for years and now that fella wants a new bird and you are willing to take the old shagged out one back, absolutely no self respect.

Still got the class but is becoming slow and is only going to get slower. My heart says yes, my head no.

Barry 2.0 but would play a bit further up field, put Tom Davies in to do his running while he learns (not about the fags and grannies obvs)

Would help Koeman in the transition/rebuilding stage.
But Mourinho's not daft either he knows he's going to need Rooney during His transition/rebuilding.

so yeah but no, but yeah but no
