That's just progress mate. If we get 6th or 7th this season and then just repeat that next, with a manager for the first time backed with cash, that can't be acceptable.

On Lukaku: I am pretty sceptical of any report that suggests he'll sign. I think we're just seeing a holding pattern until the summer when he'll land at a CL club with the cash to buy him. In fact, I wouldn't mind betting he's already been pencilled in by a club of that nature and it'll be finalised in the summer.
Not sure how many CL clubs there are that want him, maybe PSG, Bayern? No one bothered to come in for him last season, don't think many are actually that bothered by him. Ironically, the fact he plays for us makes him less appealing to the big clubs.

Wasnt the greatest game or performance from the limited bits I saw. Filed under "Job Done" But just looking at the squad now, the buys, the youngsters, and some established players just improving, the midfield, the keeper, Rom. No, or little, deadwood.

Doing something right imo. Summer will be the usual Rom dance. Reckon he will stay on a new deal personally. Based on nowt really.

Sound so far.

Keeping Lukaku is crucial. IMO I think the whole of the club's fate for the next few seasons depends on it. Where will we get another talent like him again for the price paid?

It sounds harsh but it's almost true to say that Everton are Lukaku + luggage.

Think that last bit is way too harsh mate. He is the main/only striker for sure, and the team is set up to max that out. But that could be said of many sides.

Summer will tell. Like I said, think he will sign that contract.

It's all about standards: we reached a standard of play 4 seasons ago that outstripped anything we'd seen since the glory days of the 80s. And it was a standard that gave us results, so the two go hand in hand. The Moyes 4th spot year was a freak when 61 points secured it. In that season we scored just 48 times and conceded 49...and that got a CL spot! Incredible piece of good fortune we had, never to be repeated.
lol end of the day we weren't good enough to finish 4th. dressing it up with hyperbole is never going to change it. Martinez did well one season, and good in Europe the following year. He did make us want for more and aim higher- and I'll be thankful for that. Koeman may well be that man. We will see.

Just throw a couple of bags of cash at Southampton if Gabbiadini keeps scoring...
