Ronald Koeman discussion

Well wasn't he supposed to be coming in and changing all that? So he failed to get on top of it and now we face a situation where all the squad has to be replaced. That wasn't the plan was it?

Maybe not everyone has come on board and those are the ones he was referring to in his press conference. Can't help those who won't help themselves.

The only reason I quoted this article was because the fella you were replying to originally speculated that some of the players were at fault and you said that was a lot of supposition. This article shows that it had been identified as a problem so it exists on some level.

You can't save every sinner and you can't make every lazy barsteward work. If players were slacking under Martinez you would hope the change of manager might change that but there's no guarantees and some of them might just have to be binned off.

I'm not sure that we are off loading everyone, I think a modicum of common sense is needed here. I know that is in short supply with some! I think the ones that will go are justified.

There is no room for deadwood, hangers-on, or anyone who doesn't share in the vision. I think this is simply what RK is stipulating. This is like Everton of old, NSNO and all that. I believe RK is there to set the wheels in motion in terms of building a successful on field team. I don't think he will be the manager who delivers the title but that doesn't diminish the role is he is currently filling.

He is changing it. He's shipping out those with bad attitudes, poor work ethic, or lack of quality.

Cleverley and Niasse in a week. Probably more to follow.

"If you come in a new situation as a manager, you start the season and we did with some good signings, and then little by little during that season you see what you don’t like and what you need to change. That is not done in two weeks, it takes more time and finally after this summer it will really be my team, and it will be a team the fans will like. We will be ready then to take the next step.”

“I am really happy with the way it is working with Steve,” Koeman insists. “We have daily contact, we speak about the team, we speak about players, he is reorganising the scouting and I am on a very good line with Steve Walsh. I know the business. It’s not that you like a player, you put a bid in and then you get the player. No, it is business. Sometimes it is difficult and sometimes it is about money, and I have mentioned before I am not the man who will decide about transfers. On the technical side I will do my job with Steve Walsh and we will do the best for Everton. We will try to find the right player for Everton and the strongest squad we will have. And finally it is money and it is not my decision.”

Interesting stuff.

I think the last line is a bit unfair

Everton are a team in painful transition with what appears a manager yet to be convinced by the club, and vice-versa.

I dont think the club are yet to be convinced by Koeman, some of the fans yes but the club have spend serious money not only on him and paying off his predecessor, they've also now backed him in the transfer market. We've just spent more that we have in any transfer window.

Hunter (who I've known for over 30 years) is a massive blue. He always tells it how it is and he is right when he says that Koeman isn't convinced about the club, and the club isn't convinced about him. We are in transition and it could go either way. If we do not invest in the squad then we have no chance of catching the clubs above us.
