I think you are leaping to an excessively false conclusion there mate. We all know RM's effusiveness carries a high 'BS coefficient'. There's nothing wrong with having a laugh at it...in fact it's healthy.

After all, aren't you yourself a self confessed iconoclast?

NB : this is an English colloquialism that Martinez does not get right. I suggest he means "we went toe to toe" with them (although maybe he and I won't see eye to eye over this interpretation)
