Roberto Martinez discussion

In defence of my op, I never gave out about Martinez, i was just massively worried. Needless to say, my judgement was cack and based on little knowledge of the man's work. I just looked at where Wigan always finished in the table and from that decided he's clearly useless. Ultimately, i was full of ****. Whatever about how good our results have been, I very quickly have come to genuinely admire the man for a number of reasons: 1) he's very much a sound lad. Incredibly likeable and rightly so. Professional about everything and exudes class. 2) he's highly intelligent... in a world crammed with idiots I might add. While playing pro football for sociedad he completed a degree in physiotherapy and in the uk he acquired qualifications in business management. This lad has brains... and clearly an extraordinary work ethic. 3) the football everton are now playing. I absolutely love it. It's got balls, confidence and class and is mind blowingly optimistic. Tactically he's already demonstrating how astute he is as well. He doesn't bring heitinga on in the last couple of minutes when we're one nil up. He brings on deulofeu. Attack is the best form of defence, unfortunately moyesey never figured that one out (hence the gluttony of last minute goals conceded by us last season... it still frustrates me thinking about them!) 4) his transfer dealings. Just another demonstration of the mans remarkable intelligence. Although kone has been Baaaaaaaad with a capital B. Overall tho, if it wasn't for his transfers I wud not like to try and imagine where we'd be in the league right now! :-o... At the end of the day, I wasn't "wrong" for being worried about Martinez. I don't think a worry can be wrong as such. I think misguided, and generally "over the top" perhaps best describes me at the time. Anyway, I am now a huge fan of Martinez and long may he continue.

HAHAHAHA...no lie, about three hours ago, I was thinking to myself 'I wonder what Fat Stan thinks now?'

It's still early days, but the man has done extremely well thus far. Exudes class...exudes Everton. He had a massive task taking over for DM...thus far, it's hard to not say he's done fantastic.

He's been fantastic up until now, the results are far better than I thought they would be.

We'll still finish lower than we did last year but that's through no fault of the manager, unless that investment is there in January.

The only thing I would say in Moyes defence is that I dare say he'd get the same results if he had Lukaku/Barry/McCarthy and lost Fellaini. Whether those things would have happened had he stayed is a different matter, with the circumstances of Lukaku signing appearing particularly fortutitous and based on a snap decision made by Chelski.

That's a poor defense mate. I submit that DM couldn't have pulled off the transfer business done by Bobby Martin.

Martinez MUST be applauded for the loan deals/signings...and the incredible financial biz of selling Fellaini and Vic.

Realistic mate, if come January we're still in the mix and we back the manager properly I'll start to believe.

At the moment we're in the same position as we were last season.

Sorry so late getting back to you Danny,, but we are a little bit ace at the minute. I understand the possibilty we might go tits up by December, tho usually in the latter stages we come ace again...

It could be our year FFS!!............... Oh Jesus, i sound like that LOT!!

What about Moyes deals on previous transfer windows for us,, give the lad credit ffs. Look at the players he bought, for little or nothing then made millions selling on.

The haters can jib off DM all they like, but if it was,nt for him we,ed have been relegated of that i have no doubt..

Loving Roberto,s fresh approach but the players hes brought in, ones on the pitch, ones on the bench and the other three are belong to other clubs FFS!!

Trouble with this mate is Lukaku was available for loan under the Moyes regime.

The lad ended up tearing it up at WBA and for the life of me I can't see any argument why surplus strikers from the monied elite would not be of interest to clubs like us.

Effectively the trade of Fellaini and Anichebe has been a work of genius, no loss at all.

The start we had last season under David Moyes was probably his second best start in his eleven year stint.
We were notoriously slow starter and good finishers most seasons.

RM is matching the best of David Moyes rather than his worst starts or even an average.

You are absolutely correct...and I wasn't necessarily having a go at DM. He did some brilliant business in his time here. I guess this transfer window reminded be of the deadline day we had in 2011-12.

2011-12 TDD....OUT: Arteta 10M, Yakuku Undisclosed, and Beckford 3M. IN: Drente and Straq...both on loan.
2013-14 TDD....OUT: Fellaini 27.5M and Anechibe 6M IN: McCarthy 13M, Lukaku (loan), and Barry (Loan)
