Look, after we finished fifth you all got yourselves in a huff thinking Barcelona are going to nab him. We gave him a new contract and you all praised the club at the time.

Don't make me go back into the vaults and unlike the posts praising him to the heavens so I can like them again.

This.

kinda gross that people want martinez to get screwed on a contract he agreed to as an employee because they don't like football results. he's taking pretty typical action and as someone said it will be settled below his claim.

sorry but it's management's fault for offering up that five year deal.

even if he's a supremely wealthy worker he's still a worker and deserves some compensation for management breaking their side of a deal to cover their own bad decision making.

You'd expect there to be performance based clauses on his contract which could lead to early termination etc.

But knowing Bill and Elstone we do probably owe him his full wages.

I don't know many specifics about contract writing and especially nothing about the specifics of football manager contracts

Yeah. Some. Not the full contract paid up when he didnt fulfil his side of the deal.

Cuts both ways this.

and they'll agree on some. this is a negotiation tactic and people are attacking martinez like he's personally threatening their families

also it does not cut both ways. he won't get his full contract because he doesn't have much leverage and the legal structures of most western nations insulate owners and their capital.

management offered him a contract of five years that was stupid and promised to pay him so much for it. they fired him for not doing that job as well as they wanted. unless there's something in the contract covering this they broke the contract and they have to compensate martinez
