Retro Andy Burnham

Harold Wilson was defo a blue.

I had a cousin who won a competition when he was a kid in Huyton when he drew a caricature likeness of Harold and got a prize off him. It was round the '68 final v WBA and he was saying he was a blue and going the game. He was Halifax mostly though.

….always had it in mind he supported Huddersfield. Decent team in the late 50s early 60s with the likes of Ray Wilson and Dennis Law, not mentioning their manager.

Farage booting pigeons in a Crown Paint Aldo top. Badenoch watering the pavements before a cold snap were you'd find homeless people dossing down in a retro JVC Arsenal 2nd kit. Starmer getting in on the act and ordering a Dynamo Kiev shirt like those young lads he met.

Politics FC!

I was born in Makerfield. Lived there until I was 20.
It is mostly Red Mancs. Not sure that shirt will do him any favours.

Do you think United fans give a flying one about Everton?

If it was a Liverpool shirt it'd be political suicide. But an Everton shirt?

It'll have been choreographed as a message:

Working class
Northern
Footy fan

...as opposed to some creature Reform will put up: probably someone from down south who's been living in a basement for 40 years buying nazi lead soldiers and tanks.

Beg your pardon. It was Huddersfield.

….i had an uncle who was a member of Huyton Labour Club, I used to go to Christmas Party in the early ‘60s. Remarkable man, he was literally 5ft 3in tall. He joined up for WW1 as an underage 14yo and fought at the Somme, communist always wore a hammer & sickle even hidden on his army uniform.

Sad thing is they lost 24 seats out of 25 to Reform a week ago.
Unless he is planning to have Dyche as his campaign manager to cope with the 24 seat deduction it might not really matter which colour shirt he is wearing.

Sounds brilliant.

I had a relative who fought in the 2nd Boer War. I got his military records online and under 'Character' it said - BAD. Under 'Attitude' it said - TERRIBLE.

🤷‍♂️

Hopefully that just meant he refused to kill some poor farmers.

But Burnham did very well there in the mayoral election as I understand.

Basically it'll be determined by what the Greens do. If a split within the left vote is avoided there Burnham will be in business, big time.
