Relegation Thread 25-26

Just had another look at our fixtures leading up to Christmas. Worrying! Only Forest at this time, stands out as our best chance of a three pointer.

Don’t think we’ll be in the conversation at all once the league settles. Burnley, Leeds and Wolves are in trouble I reckon.

Let’s face it home form over the last few years has been rank and it’s key to staying away from trouble. On the same fixtures from home last year we’re 4 points up.

15 points so far, not a bad start, same points we had in mid December last year.

We're currently three ahead of Newcastle. We shouldn't fear them. Bournemouth just got tonked. And United are a hapless rabble. Every chance of points before we lose at home to Sean Dyche...

It ain’t happening. It’d involves 5x clubs overtaking us and we’re 3 points and GD better off than Newcastle one place below us.

We’re 3x points off 5th… that’s what we should be looking at. I’m not expecting us to finish in the European places, but keeping it within arms reach for as long as we can should be the aim.

Even just doing the maths shows it’s unlikely. 27 games to go and 25 points more needed for 40 points which may well be higher than what’s required. It’s just under a point per game which is probably Lampard second season form to see us anywhere near that.

Unfortunately it works the other way as well in that we’d need to run at 2 points per game from now until the end of the season to get us up at 69 points and probable European qualification.

Dyche will just play for a point and it will be awful game to watch despite lots of individual quality in both teams.

Will be a difficult game at the City Ground with Gana and Ndiaye but one of the better away grounds in recent years and last year was brilliant pinching it late so will probably be similar tactics.

I am certainly targeting three points from Newcastle with the way they're playing currently.

69 points is more CL qualification. Brighton a few years back finished 6th on I think 62 points and given how tight the league is it might not even be 60 points needed to finish 7th.

Think with the lack of goals upfront just over 50 points is as good as this present squad can do although a good January might change things.

After our defeat of Fulham, the computer predicts we finish 13th with a 3.15% chance of Europe.

Would be interesting to see the prediction before the Fulham game and how much one game can change the stats.
