I think if you look at where the owner is right now - Gordon sold, no investment. Moise Kean sold, no investment (or proactive investment knowing that Kean was going to make £25m). Lack of investment in January in totality, despite an awful outlook. A stadium that isn't fully financed and has money to break ground/build up to a certain point but lacks the funds to finalise the build without outside investment.
I'd be very, very surprised if Moshiri wasn't currently in a place whereby he's recouping as much of the lost investment as possible before getting out via an alternative investor.
Adding that to the list of players who'd even struggle with the physical demands of the Championship whether that's fitness and the fact the games come thick and fast or just general physicality. That list is very, very long.
I think if we go down, we stay down for at least 3-5 years as a rebuild. The squad would be firesold to recoup those losses so it'd look a lot different than it does today.
I respectfully disagree.
Yes we would see sales and out of contract players leaving - Mina , Pickford , Coleman , Onana , Coady , Calvert Lewin , Vinagre spring to mind.
That reduces the wage bill considerably and together with the sales of Kean and Gordon probably brings in about £180 million.
Buy a decent keeper for £10m , bring back
Branthwaite , Dobbin and Cannon, buy a couple of combative midfielders and a Gyckores ,( say £80 m tops ) give Price and Mills game time and we should have a squad more than capable of coming straight back up, saved a chunk of wages and banked £100 m.
Easy job Thelwells got lol
