It's funny how in Liverpool there generally isn't a chippy that isn't also a Chinese (or vice versa) whereas in the rest of the UK a chippy and a Chinese are generally very different.

Same in my experience how in Manchester you typically get chippies that do a full range of kebabs/curries but rarely if ever anything to do with Chinese.

Then say in the Midlands where I live you can't get gravy from a chippy without first checking they don't put ruddy great lumps of soggy meat it (faggots apparently).

I realise all the above are food/takeaway related but what regional quirks stand out to you?

There's two chippys down the bottom of my road, one Greek and one Chinese. There's also a pizza place in between them.

In my local, (North Somerset), it is not unusual to see folk put pickled eggs into packets of crisps, and slices of lemon or orange into pints of rough cider. (Not Strongbow type fizz, but proper stuff).

You can also quite easily "order" a pheasant from someone, who will pop it round the next day after they have shot one for you.

Lambs as well. And if you know the butcher who drinks there, he will make it look all nice and presentable for you.

mayo on chips from a take away.

further to that lettuce on chips and mayo, come across that a little bit.

another odd one is scally obsession with salt and pepper stuff. They go round acting like tits and pop in the chippy for some salt and pepper chips or wings. Its like crack to them it seems.

That there be Black Country, Black Magic mate. Don't do that sort of thing in Birmingham. Chippies are very much separate entities here though for sure. West Brom, Wolves, Dudley and all those kinda places are very much into the faggots and peas kinda chippies. Revolting stuff! Ask 'em for some "grey peas" one day.

Chip spice in Hull is apprently a thing.
A chip man in Oundle as well, no local chippies so a man with a van a deep fat fryer does deliveries on a Friday night.

As are patties which is mashed potatoes with herbs covered in battered and fried. With chip spice, of course and in a bread cake.
