How did Everton do in this January’s window?

They have been here a year , I don’t trust the “summer” narrative either, Thats been pushed before and we are already seeing it again on social media.

Don’t forget our own manager said last year it was difficult to attract a lot of the better players because of a lack of European football. He also said last month in an interview that potentially the best we could hope for over the next couple of years is around 8th or 9th, so we potentially face the same issues time and again.
I suppose 12 months ago we were a club in constant relegation. Consistent bad press PSR, headlock gate, points deductions etc

We are at this point still in hunt or europe, look far more stable.

Hopefully because of this we will look more attractive. Equally we might get Europe…got lot of players back all at once. Bench looking stronger and new blood with Armstrong and George

5. We signed a promising attacking winger with competition from other clubs, but not a striker. We should have looked at selling Myko or Patto and getting younger replacements in defence but for some reason we didn't. I know January is like the wild west for finding good buys but we needed one or two more. Glad we kept Beto, Barry, Aznou and McNeil. Overall not terrible but not great.

Please rate how you appraise Everton’s January tranny window. You can include contract extensions in your working out should you require.

10 is the highest levels of satisfaction, 0 is the lowest. Poll attached.
If you include Garner's extension, then a solid 7.

I was expecting no signings and no extensions (that would have been a 4) and therefore my base was extremely low.

If Palace had bought Dwight, then it would have been an 10.

Now that the window has closed, I hope we see the following for the rest of the season:

- sufficient minutes for Patterson and Aznou at fullback so we can determine once and for all whether to sell or retain
- a decent run for Armstrong in his right position (defensive mid) now that we’ve curtailed his loan
- a proper chance given to George and Dibling in wing / forward positions to mitigate the over-reliance on NDiaye now that Grealish is injured
- a chance for Branthwaite and O’Brien to establish a partnership at CB - they are the future

Knowing Moyes we won’t see all of the above but here’s hoping!

….they won’t be selected unless they earn game time, that’s how it works and that’s how it should be. Huge plus for Armstrong that the Manager trusted him to play in a variety of roles, he’ll eventually settle in his best position have no doubt about that.

Too early to rate the window as it’ll almost totally be dependent on how George performs but the continued failure to bring in effective full backs is a downer.

Of course.

Also I think we all agree that playing 4 CBs and Armstrong on the wing is not the way forward.

….fantastic that Armstrong was trusted to start in two positions that might not be his best. It’s amazing how quickly he’s earned the managers trust and has been given a huge vote of confidence.

Clearly he’s being asked to do a job in the short-term, have absolutely no doubt he’ll settle into his best position in the long-term. In the meantime he’s that good, he’ll get playing time wherever his team most need.

The days of Alan Harper filling in everywhere are long gone Eggs. We should have 2 specialist players for each position like every decent team in the league. I'm pleased for Armstrong and his future looks bright but he's filling gaps we shouldn't have except in an injury crisis.

A big fat zero! Weaker than when it opened. We only signed George cos of Grealish, otherwise we would have signed no one at all. Given the obvious state of our squad it is staggering tbh.

I do believe we are aiming to go big in the summer BUT, we could have had a good shot at european footy this season and I am desperate for another proper away day.
