Pickford is better than what Martyn was and it’s not even close.

And you only have to compare their England performances to come to that conclusion.

Martyn barely got a look in with Seaman around (even if he was susceptible on more than one occasion), and when he did he was responsible for giving away the equalising goal to Romania at Euro 2000. Pickford, by comparison, was a major reason England have progressed deep into the last four major tournaments and played two finals.

And, let's face it: Pickford has proven himself a far more effective England goalkeeper than Seaman - the man who kept Martyn out - was.

That said, Martyn was an excellent goalkeeper. He just played for the wrong club at the time of Seaman's dominance. Mind you, so does Pickford...

First time around he arrived to have talks - no one was there to greet him so he went to Leeds - Everton That ....

A director met him at Park foods . Martyn & his agent told the director ( Cliff Finch I think) that Leeds were also interested and he told them they better hurry up and go because it was nearly rush hour and gave them directions to Leeds . If that wasn't bad enough we then signed Paul Gerrard instead
