This was before the season started and they were still "terrible" buys. Now that they are good the narrative has to change to fit the agenda.

This I agree with. Rondon has to do more to prove it's really just match fitness he is lacking.two of them yes, but the jury is still out on the third
China was a big project in fairness look at some of the talent that went over there in recent years. Once the Chinese Government stopped the investment / COVID hit he decided it was time to come home and I dont blame him tbh.
BoringThe talent as you put it, all went for 1 reason, obscene wages

The money didn't run out, he was still being paid an incredible amount and they offered him a 2 year extension to his contract.
At Dalian it was a project, they are revamping and up scaling their academy in order to be self sustainable. He has been made an ambassador at the club and is still overseeing the academy plans.
Say what you like but it must have been hard being locked in a hotel room and only being allowed out to train and go to matches, not being allowed to leave the country for nearly 2 years, he was extremely worried about his family and friends at home.
BoringHe was worried that much he decided to take a job over 5000 miles away and stayed there nearly a year after the pandemic hit
