Rafael and the small club comment

Some would disagree with that bit to be fair.

I'm just against the spreading of misinformation to support any argument - like "he's done nothing in the last 10 years" or "Bruce is outperforming him at Newcastle"

Unfortunately.... probably agree with this.

With regards to him waiting for the arsenal job.....only one manager can take that job. If arteta does- we go for benitez, if benitez does- we go for arteta

Is the fanbase united now? I don’t think we’re any more united now than we’d be under Benitez.

I don’t think we’d need to pay compo as he has a release clause to leave at the end of the Chinese season in a few weeks

The moment we lose a couple of games it'll turn toxic. Especially if the general feeling is that he isn't bothered and the football we are serving up is crap.

This isn't Benitez of ten years ago. This is a fella who's been fighting relegation in the North East for the past few years.

Our fans viciously and hysterically booed Koeman regularly for drawing at home or having a shaky start. Imagine what they would do to Benitez lol

Good managers wait for jobs, Mourinho wanted to work in the prem and waited.

Past it managers rock up in china for multimillions for their reputation, same as players.

Leave him in the Chinese graveyard... I see no top clubs going for him, which should show how much of a "top manager" he is. 15 years ago, he was a successful cup manager, now he is as past his sell by date as Moyes.

No. not this life, or another.

Chelsea fans were in uproar when he rocked up there. He won a cup in the first season and left with them singing his name. In theory we are in a similar situation with Rafael and the hate is strong. My thought process was, would some people calm down about his past and be more forgiving if we ended the season in similar fashion to Chelsea by winning a cup.
Some people will not take to him regardless because of his past. I think we need to move on from his past.
I actually didn’t mind us getting Benitez at the time (there isn’t a manager out there with half a brain who’d have wanted to follow Di Matteo at the time), however to suggest that he left with us ‘singing his name’ is stretching it a bit.
He is a good tactician, however that’s also his weakness, as he’s so inextricably bound to his tactics that when a bit of spontaneous genius is called for he’s too busy checking his notes.

All Benitez is now is foreign Allardyce for Clubs who think they're a bit better andm/or posher and bigger than Allardyces usual employers ...and he must've been desperate to take the barcodes job.

Rafael the king of zonal marking......................surely we've had enough of that nonsense. The man is that arrogant he wouldn't come here anyway and thank God for that

Some of our fans only prove how small time they are with their attitude over Benitez. Some of you are ruled by your hatred for the RS, you're letting the fact that the guy managed them nearly a decade ago, along with a throwaway and misinterpreted comment that was twisted by Sly Sports to create controversy, cheat us out of a manager who is by far the best option available.

Don't worry lads, he'll never get the job. The morons who run us are to sacred of upsetting some of you cryarses. We'll no doubt end up with a vastly inferior manager that you can all be proud of, while Benitez will to Arsenal or elsewhere and win stuff. And some of you wonder why we're almost always garbage.......

If the RS slug coached an exciting attacking brand of football and was an inspiring touch line character he might have a chance to overcome the residual antipathy and outright hostility he would face.
Unfortunately he’s a dreary insipid number cruncher. His style works best at top clubs who have the quality to win and his style enables them to grind out the percentage points to secure a trophy. He’s no good for building mid table teams up to be contenders.
Steve Bruce is outperforming him at the bar codes currently.
