I am new to this beautiful game known here in the U.S. as soccer (I personally prefer "football" because, well, it's played with feet). Fell in love with the game during the 2010 World Cup watching the U.S. make their historic run. After that, I wanted more. I couldn't get enough of it. Devoured documentaries, books, websites, etc. Became interested in the Premier league and watched as many matches as I could. Randomly picked a team, Tottenham to support (No idea why, really, as I had nothing drawing me to them). Recently, however, I learned that supporting a club entails more than simply drawing the name out of a hat; there has to be a connection, something that matters to you about who they are and what they stand for. I began searching for just such a team. I took a look at a few clubs that I thought would fit my personality and began getting to know them: when they started, how they began, their relationship to their fans, etc., while watching a few matches along the way. Not unlike dating, I suppose. The more I learn about Everton, the more I like them. Everton seems to me to be a down-to-earth club, lacking any pretention. A club that works hard and always plays to win each match. I figured that one of the best ways to get a pulse of a team is to learn how the fans feel about their beloved club. Which leads me here. I hope my hunch about Everton is correct. So far it seems like it would be a "Grand old team" to support.

Welcome mate.

We've got Tim Howard. We had Joe Max Moore. You Yanks don't have a choice which "EPL" team you support. It would be unpatriotic to support anyone else.

Unless he supports Gillette & Hicks for the sterling work they did 07-10 at USA FC.

Mustnt forget Brian McBride now lid! And our very own cup hero, aka mr PAUL RIDEOUT now lives in the states!

Landon Donovan too, he was only with Everton for three months, but he doubled his worth on the field over the course of that loan spell. You'll find that there's more state-siders than you might expect on GOT.

Oh, good evening and welcome to you, Chosen One.

Welcome. Everton were founder members of the league, we do things with dignity and class, we're not one of the media darlings but we've been in the top flight longer than anyone else, the all time top goal scorer in a single season played for us. There's so much history. It's an awesome team to support. The more you learn, the more you'll love em. David Moyes described us at the peoples club.

Teams coming out to Z Cars, "its a grand old team" playing before the game. It's a great vibe at goodison, you really feel welcome, like one of the people.
