Proposed changes to the Premier league

Wonder what would happen if one or two of the 'big six' were under threat of relegation under the proposed changes? A quick vote would ensure it didn't happen!

Don't be so cynical that would never happen....

Due to the double points games where teams can double and even triple their points won from that game, this boost helps teams fight for European football when otherwise a poor season might have cost them.

*double points games are picked after the match has been completed to ensure total fairness on who gets these catch up points.

Didn't even need to look at the article to know it wasn't a good idea.

2020. The big 6 are absolutely not doing this to get a bigger slice of the pie. We just want more control in the game.

2021. The big 6 have voted to change the payment structure so they pocket 75% of the money earned between them. "We are the reason the Premier league is sold around the world and that is why it is fair" said the utd CEO who has since made a point that finishing 8th playing a turgid brand of football was not good enough.

Love the way they're trying to make out that there's a clear 'big 6.'

By what metric? Man City are 7th in all time Premier League points and have been relegated. Okay, they've won the league a few times, but why are Spurs in there? They're 5th all time points, but have one less title than Leicester.

So how exactly are they deciding this so-called 'big 6'?

Hope we smash these rats on Saturday.

This is a dirty power grab. Blackmailing the EFL during economic uncertainty, to take control of the PL’s future. Then what’s the stop them decreasing the size of the PL until it’s just a six team franchise?

I hope the rest of the teams in the PL grow a pair and stand up to this nonsense.

They get in but Leicester I think dont? Crazy

Depends on the criteria they determine, if it’s continuous then the Geordies miss out because of their yo-yoing, with shouts even for Palace and Southampton who have been back up since 2012 and 2013 respectively

It's not technically to do with a "Big 6". It's the 9 clubs with the longest current spell in the Premier League which happens to be the "Big 6", us, Southampton and West Ham.

Obviously it is just a way to give the "Big 6" all the power though

Their paymasters Sky obviously, the 6 teams that get the bulk of the TV games aka The RS, the two Manchester clubs, Spurs, Arsenal and Chelsea

By global fanbase numbers that then push networks to pick up the TV contracts i'd imagine. All a bit crap really isn't it. Just because you have a purple patch now doesn't mean you should get a locked in advantage for life. I'd imagine in the 90's they would have said Newcastle is a required team for overseas viewers but now years later and no one cares about them anymore. Exact same thing would happen with utd/RS et all. They don't care about the team, they care about the style and passion. They will migrate to the team currently doing well and that thought hurts these 'global brands'.

Honestly wouldn't bother me if Forest and Wednesday both get bought out tomorrow and proceed to overtake us. That is what competition is all about. It's boring seeing the same teams year on year, it needs that variety. Naturally the well supported, historic clubs will eventually come back to the fore so what is the problem with how it worked before?

Laughing at the takeover veto option.

I think we'd be alright because we've sorted our takeover and our stadium (pretty much) and have enough clout to continue competing seriously, but everyone else is utterly done for if this happens.

Horrific idea that is all about extracting every penny possible from the game at the expense of the last of its soul.
