Premier League Games Abroad?

Would you be opposed to Premier League games played abroad?

Only Serie A would find a country smaller (population-wise) to hold their match.
Milan have played pre-season games in Perth for the past 2 or 3 seasons, and also have an academy here. It makes sense for them to play their overseas game here (if playing overseas games makes any sense at all that is)

Only a matter of time before we see a Premier League, 'Elite' competition.

Possibly 10 teams , playing each other 4 times per season.

A number of fixtures will be played overseas, to maximize revenue streams.

Every club outside of this cabal , can wither on the vine.

We all know that this is coming.

With La Liga and Serie A allowing their teams to play actual league games abroad,

Villarreal Vs Barcelona in Miami
Como Vs AC Milan in Perth (Australia, not Scotland)

Uefa have said they are powerless to stop it as there is no specific legislation to stop it. Should they look to bring something in to stop it in the future though? These clubs are making around £5m each for a one off game, plus any commercial tie ins they can get. How long will it be before teams in the Premier League look at this?

On the one hand, as fans based in the UK, who go to games and pride themselves on the fact that have been to every home game for decades, this threatens what makes the league so special and risks the key part of what makes the league. That is the fans in the stadium. Once you take that away what is left?

The other side of it is PSR, with clubs being held back because their spending is tied to revenue, should they then be allowed to maximise their revenue to compete on the pitch?

It is a straight choice. Allow big business to put the final nail in the football coffin or demand we at least play our league in our country. There is little enough left in tbis global tv show.

As long as the money is shared equally

If the clubs really want more money I would rather see either the charity shield played abroad or an end to the 3 o’clock black out than league games played abroad

What if it's a relegation 6 pointer and you need a proper home crowd or get a result and you get the trophy? Thousands of that clubs supporters miss out on seeing the trophy lifted, when you should have been at home for the last game if it weren't for the 39th fixture.
This is my take on it. Whilst I am against the idea entirely, I'm not oblivious to the fact that it is likely to happen at some point.

Therefore, it cannot be part of the regular fixtures because it could/will either put a team at an advantage or disadvantage, and that's not equity.

Or if I had personally watched Everton get to the final and then it ended up being in Miami, and the club allowed it, I'd be done with them.

I wish I had the skills to graft a load of Everton players into either a short gif from Miami vice or one of the scenes from GTA Vice city.

How would a world city of football clubs work? The towers of london vs the new york wall street financiers? The beijing peoples wealth fund players vs the new dehli archways? the paris eye fulls vs munich oktoberfests?

Transplanting a side into foreign surroundings and expecting some organic and passionate connection to magically be established is probably a bit foolhardy. Are there any examples in any other sport ever of such a feat occurring?

it’s been talked about for years. Can see it happening but the backlash would be huge.

The other countries currently doing it, what are the sorts of attendances on any given match day across the country? I doubt collectively it’s as big as in the UK. That’s the positive we have going for us to prevent it.

La Liga / Serie A were clear that this was to grow their leagues and catch up income wise with the Prem (not an endorsement btw, it’s an awful, idea that as has been said, creates competitive inequities).

So other than greed, no excuse for prem matches to go and for the record, I think we’re years off it if at all.
