Pre Season: Real Betis

That was pretty poor.

I think that Koeman was definitely experimenting with the players and got stitched up with this tournament from Martinez legacy. I think he's tried to make the best of it, so I can't complain about the manager as I have no idea where all the players are at in terms of fitness and posititions for next season.

What does massively concern me is the players themselves. They look so far off the pace, lacked innovation and inventiveness, and we're basically poor. It's like we just pass the ball round getting ourselves into tight corners then take ages trying to get out of them and lose the ball.

Our overall game is so slow and has been for so long. Saw some speed and excitement in Gerry and Kev, but without them we looked tired and hopeless.

Lukaku is obviously so fed up he's still here he's resorted to punching players or whatever he did, and clearly can't play with another striker as the two strikers just get in each other's way.

I'm not confident for the season, but I can't blame Koeman if we're crap after a few games, as he can't get on the pitch and play himself. The players have got to do the business as well.
What lukaku hit a player ?

Martinez had Moyes' base to build on.

Koeman has got Martinez' to work with.

Poor bugger....

Del has looked the business mind, and there's still some good players around. There are however clear issues with the squad, probably a similar situation IMO

...didn't see the game but last nights performance was poor. I have a theory that a poor pre-season often results in a good season, I really hope so here because there is nothing to suggest we won't be any better than last term and maybe even worst.

You honestly think we'll be worse than last season based on a few mess about pre-season games? Bit negative mate.

More a case of the wheels have been fully off since the quater final win over Chelsea. We have hired a full new team of mechanics who need to assess each part, find all the clunks and rust and either repair or replace. It was never going to be instantaneous. A big job, and hopefully Koeman and Walsh are up to the task.
Don't think we would pass a M O T at the moment
