Pre-season: Dynamo Dresden away!

tbh I prefer Barkley as part of a three-man midfield. I think it frees him up more and immediately he puts himself about as well.

Playing as a 10 he can sometimes get isolated.

I'd agree again. You sure you're not a multi of mine?

Barkley with say, Witsel and Carvalho (if we're to believe what we've heard) would be a hell of a midfield and would allow Ross to venture forwards safely.

Typical pre season, what's to be learned, nothing really we are not aggressive enough around are own box, and we need a leader at the back, and two decent forwards.
Nothing we didn't already know, though we played OK first half.

I think that's the ultimate aim but ill be very surprised if we do get it.

On the plus side this might focus the management staff to get some effin transfers done.

it isn't the manager's job.

he will have identified his targets (clearly already has in some cases) and we'll be working on deals vis club officials.

some may be done quickly (possibly Gueye), others not so quickly (Witsel), and that's down to the calibre of player we're aiming for.

Coleman did make the mistake, but Stones was ball watching.
Davies, imo didn't play 'well' but don't think anyone stood out. He's young and more games = better player.
Barks, still made the turn and pass that got the free kick for Del to score.
Del, was good in creating space/chances but if you waste them ?
Apart from that, agree.

It's a pre-season friendly and by the look of RK's face, he wasn't happy.

Nope, first goal is all Coleman. He doesn't even look at Stones, he think Stek is coming out to get it. Stones could have read the situation a bit better, but still wouldn't have got across in time.

Davies looked sharp, then. Some neat and tidy touches and overall did well.

Yeh Barkley is capable of that, a moment of magic per-say. But he was poor overall. Again, not concerned, it's pre-season.

Well everything Del did (bar three bad finishes) was as good as it could be. Hopefully he starts tucking them away soon enough (even though he's got 3 in 3 games like)

Overall nothing to be disappointed about apart from the result which is not the important thing in preseason. Koeman will be learning about the players he has and where he can improve them or decide to ship them out. We will have players coming in and Koeman will know by now where he has to improve in personel. Tactics will take a little longer to adapt to but each game will see improvement in players perspective rather than results. The high pressing is something I like but will need players at full fitness to work to full affect. We failed today at defensive duties by switching off on the first goal and allowing too much time for the second. Koeman will drill the players in the art of closing down but this needs more fitness than we have at the moment. A few Koeman signing will see the team freshen up and have more fight (we would hope). I know I will get battered for it but our full backs (as good as they are going forward) have the specific weakness of not being able to head a ball and very slack at closing down crosses. I would like to see bigger defenders at right and left back that can defend better rather than average defenders that are more comfortable on the ball.
