I can understand some events being cancelled, but football can act as an "escapism" for some people.

Plus, all the chaos for the paid travel, hospitality and food suppliers etc.
 

Dont be silly, I dunno if you are old enough to remember when Diana died but they called the games off then, to think they were going to go ahead this weekend was just daft
When she died 31st. August, we played the next day. When she was buried on the 6th. that weekends games weren't cancelled but was an international weekend and England played Moldova. She wasn't the reigning monarch.

Clubs would likely donate food to food banks/charity

Sucks for anyone who are solely employed on matchdays though
