1/ From experience, there are certain topics whereby people are deeply entrenched in their positions, and therefore discussions around them tend to be talking at others rather than listening. Religion is one example, politics another. As such, it's certainly not uncommon for discussions on these topics to be barred from forums.

2/ To be clear, it's very rare for someone new to the site to become a forum supporter. It's much more common for someone to be here for a prolonged period of time, and because they appreciate the site they help out with the running costs a little bit.

3/ For sure, those who have been around a long time and contributed a lot to the site do get cut more slack than newbies that don't have the 'credit in the bank', but that's never anything to do with financial contributions, and it's not an exhaustive level of leniency either.

1/ The clique versus dappers threads have vanished into the members lounge (?).

2/ I'm fairly new to the site and was/am thinking of 'helping out with the running costs'.

3/ A lot of slack is given to certain members.

I sometimes participate in the Everton forum, mostly just observe (clenching my fists), which is why I mainly hover around the 'Ale House'.
There have been some 'should have been on telly' moments of humour on there.
Grandpa Simpson'ed a lot of the political threads, as it usually is about us v them (although have gained a different perspective which is a major plus). They don't usually end up with ten on one pile ons!
The 'clique' versus 'dappers' on the other hand, is brutal. Nod your head in a direction and instant ramifications.

I learn loads reading the political debates on here.
However, the reason they close is because half of you descend into insulting eachother. Like the last EU thread.
Before the insults, it's good debate. The reason you guys insult eachother is because neither will budge from their views. Once you guys understand that someone on the internet isn't going to change another one's opinion, and you stop resorting to insults, then perhaps it will be easier for the threads to stay open.
Just my 5 cents.
I'd love to keep reading them, and adding what little I can.

Sorry, forgot to add that to my 'clique' v 'dapper' dialogue.
You know I'm only joking, as we both know it's 'those' guys that insult each other.

Can we get a very scientific poll going on in this thread?
I don't like the idea myself.

Seems apt.

Moving stuff to the upgraded lounge then announcing it in the public forum stinks of revenue raising to be honest, the fact that a capitalist free marketeer is doing the announcing doesn't help, I will upgrade again when rep is back, be arsed chatting politics with the Tory choppers on here
reap the whirlwind !
