Are we really that broke that we can,t find the down payment?

Should we just ask the 1ST Team Squad and Manager to have a whip round to cobble together the money on behalf of the owners.

The way I see it is:

They want 5-6million.

We don't have much money, so cant afford that in one whack.

Negotiations have been to work out an initial fee and the right clause or incremental fees to be paid after.

I'd like to think that has been agreed now, seems to be alot of places reporting done deal and alot of places reporting initial fee in the region of 2.5-3m. Good business if true.

Hope he is here soon

As LCAB has always said, it's outs before ins i suspect it hinges on someone going out, i am 100% convinced it won't be Baines. I HOPE it's someone like Anichebe. A saleable asset, someone on a big contract whom he has persisted to play and get him on 'show' to potential buyers.

'kin best be Anichebe, and Yobo, and Cahill tbh. There is 10m, and we'd only need to replace one of them really, so the two players we get with the money, or even 7/8m of it, would improve not only our squad, but the first team too. There has to be takers for those three? 100k+ a week off the wage budget...

I am almost 100% confident that Pienaar coming here does NOT rely on someone leaving, but I am also almost 100% confident that he is the only player we can bring in without selling players.

Just a quick other sidenote, FourthOfficial posted late last night a few cryptic messages like "Have a feeling tomorrow will be a good day" and "I am the music man, I come from down your way.."

I think this is close now. So many places picking up on it now and quoting similar fees.

Playing hardball with levy and spurs is a recipe for disaster in my opinion . The club let Bentley in particular and others effectively rot in the reserves rather than be 'turned over' and saw off Chelsea over Modric last year . It'd be a dangerous game and if your pienaar or his people you'd need to look at having a 'cut off point '

I thought we played hardball in January and so did Piennar.

There were quite a few clubs rumoured to be interested, QPR, Sunderland I am sure made offers however Piennar just flatly seemed to refuse to budge and go anywhere. After the success of his 2nd loan spell I expect he'll be even more sure of wanting to come here now.

I have 2 worries over this deal, 1 that AVB talks Piennar into staying and replacing Modric, promising him game time. The other is someone like Chelsea want him however I don't think either of these things will happen.

I expect he'll just sit and demand Spurs make a deal with Everton as Yobo will do to us and one way or another he'll get his wish. I think we'll end up paying between 1 - 2.5 million or sign him (I don't think Moyes would pay any more) or we'll sign him on another season long loan late in the window.

We did play hardball in January and we actually played it well and credit to those who negotiated it but we cut it very fine , will we get away with it again ? Hope so

I like that! Strong in all areas, if we get off to a good start, no reason why this team cant finish higher than last season.

Ahaha.

Ahahahahahahaha.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!

Don't know mate. I'm not sure of the strength of this agent going to finch farm stuff though . As I'm not 100% that that bloke is his agent but more importantly I understand players going to finch farm but why would the agent go ? Informal talks tend to be informal & tend usually to be in slightly more relaxed settings . Anyway the key To us paying a fee again surely has to be whether we've money doesn't it ?

Sheedy - if there is no money for Steven then there was never any money for the other lads who got linked with us in the last few weeks - agents fees, sign on fee etc.

Not true at all. Money for Pienaar may well have been ringfenced.

As for other lads we have been looking at, the reason why we stall and take our time and miss out on some, is probably due to us having to offload Yobo etc first.

I'm not saying there is no money mate but I suspect there isn't much . Signing pienaar from spurs would be a similar deal to signing say Rodallega except with a fee on top wouldn't it ? I don't know much about this at all except we like pienaar and he wants to come , if we can afford him I'd imagine the deal will be completed since its been 'close' since the end of the season hasnt it ? I'm not being negative just adding maybe a touch of realism , let's hope we have got the money is be delighted .
