The Tottenham Hotspur midfielder appeared in the Randburg Magistrate's Court on Wednesday on
charges of assaulting Thabang Mnisi, the son of the deputy minister of public service and
administration, Ayanda Dlodlo.
Sunday World understands that Pienaar and his friends were having a boys night out and enjoying
themselves at Icon nightclub in Sandton last Sunday.
Pienaar, who was arrested for drunk driving in the UK in February 2010, was not asked to plead to
a count of assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm.
Schillo, as he's known in football circles, handed himself over to the Sandton police a few hours
after the incident. Four of his friends, who allegedly participated in Mnisi's assault, are still being
sought by the police.
Mnisi was allegedly kicked and punched several times by Pienaar and his friends following a
confrontation in the club's VIP section.
It is alleged that Pienaar and his friends prevented Mnisi from using the toilet in the club's VIP
section. He was allegedly asked why he was in the VIP section. He allegedly told them he had every
right to be there because, he too, was on the VIP guest list.
Mnisi alleges the men punched and kicked him until he fell to the ground and was rescued by beefy
bouncers. He was rushed to the Morningside Clinic.
Pienaar is yet to plead to the charge. Pienaar, who is out on a warning, was warned by Magistrate
Lieland Poonsamy to be available at his next court date, scheduled for July 4.
Golden Arrows defender Bryce Moon is expected back in court tomorrow when his murder trial
resumes.
Moon allegedly knocked down Sandton domestic worker Mavis Ncube in the early hours of June 30
2009.
Two doctors and one of Moon's friends, who was a passenger at the time of the crash, are expected
to take the stand this week.
Ncube died later in hospital and Moon's luxury Mercedes Benz was found wedged between a tree
and a wall after the crash.
The man who allegedly stabbed former Bafana Bafana, Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates striker
Marc Batchelor appeared in court again this week.
His case was postponed to next month to give him more time to arrange legal representation.
Hazem Malaka was arrested last month for allegedly stabbing Batchelor in the hand with a pair of
scissors following a fight at Cedar Square, Fourways, northern Joburg.
