Photos, memes etc. How?

Over the years I've done the odd match preview and occaisionally post photos and memes. In the past, I'd just click on the URL, copy, paste and Bob was your uncle.

Lately, however, I try the same process and when I check the post later, there's just a link.

Bob is no longer your uncle. Bob is a foul smelling stranger who follows you into public toilets with dubious intentions.

Why is this? what am I not doing right?

Sometimes it just doesn't work like that. The way I do it normally to make sure it works is the old way clicking the Insert Image icon, selecting the paperclip icon & then pasting URL in there.
