Didn't start against Leeds.
Hmm, ok but no one is savaging Coleman (rightly not btw) for his bad decision in losing the ball and bad position for the equaliser on Sat.
I am not sure about your point of the rest of the team being so good he doesn't have to do much. I might turn that around and say him sitting gives others licence to play.
Has he started every game ? Maybe he has and is part of the squad that has taken us to our best start for some time.
He is getting on, he is running out of time, but right now, from the players we have available he is my choice at DM.
Haha. No barca comparison from me. I don't count Leeds either. I'm not sure if we were playing Lundstram at DM we would be where we are. Rodwell, yes. Gibson, yes. Johnny, not sure, he just looks like a CB playing in midfield, think we did that with Jags before too.Colemans different because he is an inexperienced lad who made a mistake, overall he brings so much to our game that we are better with him. You can't say the same for Neville. A couple of years ago i'd have been ok with him as back up in centre mid while he could still go, but now its so obvious he just hasn't got the legs.
I meant he started every league game, i'm sure he has, either at rb or in mid. I'd be willing to say we could have had Heitinga, Lundstram or me sitting in our mid and we'd be more or less in the same position. Ok not me but anyone capable of playing the role to a very basic level.
And like i said, just ebcause we're fourth with him doesn't mean we shouldn't want to be 3rd(or higher) without him.
*warning warning* Barcelona comparison coming up. Its why they can play Mascherano in centre defence and still destroy teams, because of the other 10 players on the pitch. Sure he can do the basics but he often gets found out if put unde rpressure, yet they still win comfortably despite him.

Thing is though the next man in line was Junior. He got a go against Leeds and was woeful. He got completely bullied out the game. Heitinga just as slow as neville and arguably a worse tackler. Lundstram's a kid with no first team experience at all.
I don't expect anyone to say he's class, but it's not hard to acknowledge he's doing a job for the team, a job the next man in line was proven incapable of doing.
I'd honestly say that Neville makes a bit mistake pretty much every game. Just because we're not punished for it every time doesn't mean its not an issue. .

Most of the team we're awful against Leeds, doesn't mean they're not capable. Mind you i'd forgot about Junior, did he really go from being in line for some appearances to being gash just because he was one of many players who sucked against Leeds?
I'd honestly say that Neville makes a bit mistake pretty much every game. Just because we're not punished for it every time doesn't mean its not an issue. For instance, an awful clearing header against Newcastle that fell to Cisse or Ba which they volleyed just wide in the first half. Most people have forgotten about that but its just one of many instances where he's done similar things but the rest of the quality in the team meant we've got something out of the game.
Its simply the fact his legs are gone and his passing that was always just ok is even worse. Sure, he can still do a job but if thats all he's doing surely other options could do so as well, maybe better but surely not worse.
Mind you, we do have one of the best defensive mids over the last 2 years in our squad.
Bit harsh on Junior that, isn't it? He wasn't really given a fair chance, and I think you're highlighting the goal vs Leeds where he is the one closest to the ball but not the one giving it away in the first place. What we lacked vs Leeds was our usual calm, instead just feigning an interest. I've heard the same said about Oviedo not being able to cut it based on that performance but everyone was at their most lacklustre and I wouldn't blame the new boys for that.
There were worse culprits out there who just didn't look arsed, until Pienaar came on and held up the ball.
Absolutely. 1.If he's not loftin' one of those hangin' crap crosses that take all day to reach their destination (Invariably to an opposition head) 2.he's broke up one of our attacks by takin' all bleedin' day to trot up to take a long throw that he takes all day to take, which also goes to an opposition head.
3.And if he's not doin' any of them, he's losin' possession from a misplaced easy 10yd pass, 4.failin' that, when he's at RB he never shows the winger the line, and gets turned more often than not, or backs off until dangerously close to our area then dives in.
Of course, 5.that's when he's not defending like a 3rd centre half on the right hand corner of our 18yd box that he seems glued to.
As far as I'm concerned he's been at the very least, livin' off that game where he & Coleman doubled up on the overrated/overhyped bale at whl, but nevile took all the plaudits. That was what? 2 seasons ago? 6.And I'm bein' very generous when I say that's the last game where he was actually noticeable for the right reasons. But it wasn't entirely down to him, as the media tried to portray.
I've seen some ****e at Goodison over the years - and he's made plenty of them look desperately missed. Oh - but those stepovers are class, aren't they??![]()
1. How many crosses has he put in from Defensive CM?
Granted, not as many as he does from RB - but there's zero variation in the type of ball he sends in no matter wheree he is on the pitch, is there?
2. Do you think if anyone else could throw it further he'd still be on them? Also, are you saying he's never found the head of one of our players from a throw?
Do you think we ought to keep up the impetus of our attack from time to time, by lettin' the nearest player to the touchline (when the ball goes out) take the throws, now & again? How many times has he taken a throw when we've had a man over originally - only for it to go to an opposition head? How much time has he taken to get there? How much time has he taken to take the throw?
3. His pass completion was compared favourably to the welsh Xavi not so long ago. It appears he makes a lot more of them than you give him credit for.
Well I'm sure I could at least match - if not better - that, if all my passes were square to someone within 5yds, or backwards Place a wheelie bin in his position, and play the ball off it & you won't be far off nevile's 'stats'.
4. Depending on what footed the winger is you would never show him the line. You show him inside where he's no longer a danger. A full-back with no pace showing wingers(typically pacey) the line would be full back suicide. Redknapp tried to buy him after he refused to show Bale the line.
The thing is, you should ALWAYS show the winger the line - he has to plant a cross onto a team-mate from distance rather than slide a 5yd pass (somethin' that nevile's barely capable of at the best of times) thereby cuttin' out two or more defenders - or even havin' a go themselves. Even when nevile doesn't, they usually cut inside of him and slide a pass through. Wherever you got that one from I don't know - but it's complete horseballs.
5. Same as Baines does, it's clearly an instruction from the manager so teams can't play through our backline.
Is it? Perhaps, but at least Baines'll put a foot in at the earliest opportunity. The only way to prove who's doin' better is to show me who gives away more NEEDLESS free-kicks - And it's NOT BAINES
6. Widely recognized, even by his many detractors on here, as having a good game in the derby.
And was still no better than anybody else.
Lay off the crack homie!!!
