Good to hear Tobys Dad getting some plaudits there.

In fairness, most of them go out of the way to name check their parents, coaches and mates who`ve supported them along the way.

I`ve got a mate, who`s daughter ran at just below elite level and they pretty much gave their up their lives for her running to a certain extent and also financed her too.

It`s the same for every young high end amateur sportsperson.

Same here. There are a few at my running club who have dedicated their lives towards pushing towards goals. Thats why its nice to hear a nod from the commentators.

Virtually non of them make it either.

Plus, only the absolute elite get any type of help towards things like travelling, accommodation etc.

They all get 5 minutes to study the wall first, all held in the green room together, then once they've had a go they don't go back to tip off the others in the green room. No bias involved.

Might have meant after the fact, climbers that had climbed it were watching the follow up competitors.
