Our window vs our rivals window

If we want to finish in the top 6 and higher, we'll need to be sitting pretty with a bit of breathing space on those below come January because I'm pretty sure Liverpool (and I suspect Spurs and possibly Arsenal) will really spend big if they're not doing as well as they'd like. It's looking pretty decent though.

I can understand Liverpool not paying over the odds for Dempsey no resale value at all,and given the rotating manager policy there nowadays thats important they get something back,i think though they're in big trouble

Yes, they quoted resale as reason for not going the extra for Dempsey, yet Ferguson can afford to go loads for RVP who is same age - and b4 everyone gets on to me about RVP having loads more resale than Dempsey remember it was one good season in four for him prior to leaving

Theres a difference RVP is proven class dempsey while a good player isnt in the same league.

Van Persie has had one great season out of seven. Dempsey has been plugging away scoring plenty of goals for three years in a row now.

Not saying RVP isn't the better player if both are match fit, but time will tell just how good Dempsey can be, bearing in mind he scored 20 goals for FULHAM last season, with many appearances on the wing and in midfield.

Ws talking on paper mate, you pay 20 mill for Dempsey you'd be called insane (35 mill for Caroll needs to be committed) but pay 20 mill for RVP on paper he will earn more money shirt sales etc

I don't think you can judge the success or otherwise, of most clubs business in this window, until the dust has settled & the new signings either prove to have a decent impact or die on their arse.

Van Persie was excellent the year before too.

In terms of overall goals in the last five years he's had 37 in 48, before that 22 in 33, 10 in 19, 20 in 44, and 9 in 23.

Always respectable ratios, just hampered by injuries which not only affected him through appearances missed but also the ones he played were difficult due to the stop-start nature of being injured all the time. It's hard to get a run of form, like.

I just hate him, proper judas.

And Dempsey isn't?

He refused to play for the team who brought him into the country and paid his wages. He's a blert.

Not denying it. Although i wouldn't say that refusing to play to get a transfer is quite as bad as shi**ing on the team who supported you through six years of injury. Also:

In an apparent response to Jol's comments, Dempsey later made two short comments on his Twitter account.
"There are two sides to the story," he tweeted, before adding: "The truth will come out soon."

RVP was a great servant for Arsenal.

Arsenal haven't been trying to seriously win stuff for a long time and RVP is starting to get on a bit. I don't blame RVP for wanting to win some more trophies before he retires.
